Seymour Party Store is located at 606 Seymour Ave. in Jackson, MI off of North Street. Look for the "COLD BEER" sign on the side of our building, after all, that's what we're known for. The Coldest in Town.
Seymour Party Store has been a local neighborhood establishment for 100+ years. In a past time, local stores tucked away in neighborhoods weren't uncommon. Stores back then have now either been torn down or converted to houses. Surprisingly, 'the store' as regulars and locals refer to it, has stuck around. This is because of it's faithful customers and convenient location in the northeast side of Jackson. Before becoming a party store it was a meat market owned by the Davidovich family. The entry was through the front of the store (not where the door currently is) and the counter was in the very back. It boasted high ceilings with tin ceiling tiles and of course, the original hardwood floor that is still there today. Mr. Davidovich was known to be butchering meat with a cigar in his mouth and made a friendly greeting to those who walked in. After it switched from a meat market to a party store the back part of the store had arcade style games, in a time before gaming systems became a regular household accessory. There was also a short period in time where two large windows in the back would be opened and ice cream would be sold through them. If any of our friends on here have any stories of Seymour Party Store's past and/or photos we would love for you to share them with us.
Hope to see you soon!
