Beautiful fall walk down to the fall. My friend recommended and we were there to take photos this time! It’s simply breathtaking! Beautiful little stream falling down on the side of the path and the trees were golden yellow to pink. My friend said she goes there every single year! And we’re about to start too. All our kids loved the place and ran around with joy! Recommend to family and friends. It’s quite unbelievably close to the nature being in the middle of the city. Take care to behave so you wouldn’t disturb the nature and the neighborhood that’s next to it.
This is a cool park a few blocks away from Saint Thomas. There's a a monument here and some good views of the river. The falls are a 15 minute trail walk alongside the monument plaza. In May 2022 after rain, it was quite muddy so while I could see the falls, I decided not to risk a slip and fall. In short, be very careful and wait for dry weather.
We went walking along Mississippi river and St. Thomas University and we found this little falls. Totally worth the little hike down the path, especially when you decide to go down the cliff that was a bit risky but it was fun. But the best was when we found a good place to watch the sun go down.
Very cool gem tucked away in the heart of the city along the Mississippi. No signs lead down to Shadow Falls but some clear paths near monument lookout takes you up the gorge and towards the falls! Very serene and beautiful place, two large bluff outcrops line the gorge as it opens up to the Mississippi! Not a hard or very long hike, definitely check it out!
absolutely gorgeous area, and plenty of spots to sit and relax in. the watefall is beautiful, and the limestone outcrops offer a stunning view of the mississippi. if you've got time and dont mind getting a bit dirty, be sure to visit this park.
This is a fun place to hike. There's a long trail that will take you near the Marshall Ave Bridge on one side and the other side leads to the waterfall. Though my pictures are from spring, my favorite time to visit this place is in the fall. It looks magical almost with bright golden oaks and maples, red and dappled orange, lots of fall colors. There are rock ledges to look over the river, that is if they aren't already occupied. One thing I don't like is the graffiti on the waterfall at the moment of this review.
Parked in the free lot south of the monument, then wearing snowpants slid down the snow covered hill near where the creek meets the river. Walked along the creek to the beautiful frozen waterfall.
Such a beautiful relaxed location and a little slice of nature in the middle of the city. We chose to walk off the paved area above and explore the hiking options. They have built cute log over walks in areas. I wouldn't advise going after rain as it got quite muddy. My favorite part is the mini waterfall and many rock outlets where you can sit and enjoy the river.
I took a trail just to the right of the fencing near the overlook and it heads towards the river before doubling back. About a 100 yards down the trail you catxh your first view of the falls. I crossed over the water and climbed down some steps to the base of the falls, you can walk behind the falls. Afterwards I hiked up the valley, following the stream until it ended and the trail emerged near Exeter and Mississippi River Blvd. Fun fall hike!
Such a beautiful place to visit and hike around. Amazing views of the river and Fall is great. When the falls are going the sights and sounds are amazing!
