Description

Shahrazad restaurant was founded in 1993. Since then it has served as a pillar of ethnic and cultural diversity to Milwaukee’s culinary scene bringing authentic Persian and Arabian food.

Aromatic, delicious, exotic, and comforting are all words that can be used to describe Persian cuisine. Ancient Persia was one of the world’s greatest empires and oldest cultures. Right at the heart of the ancient spice trading routes, Persian cuisine evolved from this rich and deep heritage and exchange of cultures. Shahrazad is Milwaukee’s only restaurant which serves Persian cuisine.

At Shahrazad, we focus on only 3 things: award-winning, authentic food, warm hospitality, and a inviting, family-friendly atmosphere. Come join us today with your family and friends for some great memories and delicious eats.

We serve Halal.

These plates are packed with flavor. The price shows the value of fresh ingredients and balanced recipes.Food: 5/5
We really enjoyed our dinner here. I was visiting from out of town and we had one person in our party that is vegan and gluten free. This was an excellent option for him AND I didn't realize this, but he is actually Persian, so it turned out great. It's a counter service restaurant. I ordered the vegan plate and the beef Koubideh. The beef was excellent! The vegan plate had wonderful hummus, and a salad along with rice. The rice was a little bland but everything else was wonderful. I only wish they had some sumac seasoning.
Service is good but the food is terrible… absolutely terrible. It is also expensive too… I ordered beef kabab and got 6 little pieces of beef for 16 dollars. Beef has some funny taste. Had to throw everything away because my stomach won’t allow me to swallow any of them done
Being from out of town we relied heavily on customer reviews but man were we disappointed. Not sure what other reviewers had but this was by far the worst Persian food I've ever had. Every meal was way too salty and the meats were super dry and flavorless. Although I had good conversation with the owner prior to our meal I didn't get a chance to tell him about our experience afterwards because he was in conversation with another customer and my wife and son didn't want to wait any longer.
I love this place! Fresh felafel! Great tahini sauce. Really healthy meals! I tried my partner's Gyro too and yum! Great tzatziki on there. Not a big fan of the styrofoam containers though : Vegetarian options: Many vegan options but also serve meat - so ask. They are friendly :
Just got takeout from here and it was perfect! Hot and fresh and delicious. My wife is very picky with her Tabouli salads and instead of having the salad coated with the dressing, which she has gotten from other local restaurants and then it has become old or rotten tasting, this had the dressing on the side so then she could see all the fresh ingredients and pour the dressing on top. Additionally the lentil soup was great and the Gyro dinner with fries was perfect! Will be ordering again and dining in as well!
This place has recently moved and changed their business model, but it’s great. They used to be a few blocks down the road and more of a dine in dinner establishment. Now it’s more like a sandwich/lunch place dine in or carry out. Same great food and just a few blocks from UWM.Food: 5/5
Excellent food and great service! Shahrazad catered an event I attended years ago, and I've been wanting to go there ever since. I can't wait to return once the buffet is open again, yum!!! I was happy to see they went above and beyond regarding Covid precautions - our server wore a mask the entire time, and kept his distance from us when possible. Everything on the menu is clearly marked vegetarian and gluten free when applicable, which is also helpful!
I heard this place was once really great. Proper sit down, best hummus…. Now it’s fast food/take out/low quality food. The McDonald’s of Mediterranean/middle eastern food. So sad. Everything is served on plastic or paper. Barely got any food. The gentleman who took our order was nice but that was the only nice thing about this place.
Food was still really good, but atmosphere has changed dramatically since they moved to this new location. It no longer has the cultural flare. I missed that.Food: 5/5
