Do not go thinking that like hospitals in your area, there will be any wheelchairs available for use. We arrived and zero at valet, zero at information desk which also did not have an attendant, and zero in ward we needed to go. Calling from self serve at phone at reception desk trying to obtain a wheelchair, cutoff on two separate occasions. When we finally got an operative at the desk they weren't sure where to call to get a wheelchair... At the front desk! Told them "transport" which I had connected to twice from self serve phone. Told they requested, but could not provide any timeline of when we would obtain one. Finally got one on our own accord at the valet station from a departing patient, and that one was running on the rims! Tires completely worn off. Come on Shands. You're better than this! Aren't you?
Everything is done step by step with the OLD FASHIONED follow through! Not much goes under the radar here. Connection to your Doctors here- Or not....they make sure you know what to do next. Wow Clean... above standard cleanliness.!! They try to accommodate you with Walter and Jenna as Ambassadors for you. Love this Hospital!!
Doctors and nurses were great. Facility was really good. Room was great. Only complaint was the food. Absolutely the worst! I ordered a turkey bistro sandwich. 2 slices plain bread, 2 slices of cheap processed turkey. Yuck.
Yesterday, my triplet granddaughters were delivered at UF Health. I was amazed at their precision and execution when handling their emergent delivery!!! The medical team was phenomenal and my babies arrived healthy and without a hitch!!! Laura was my daughter's nurse on the 3rd floor on yesterday, and her attentiveness to the girls during monitoring was the reason the girls were delivered so quickly and safely...THANK YOU LAURA AND THE REST OF THE TEAM !!!!
The nurses during my hospital stay were awesome but something really needs to be done about EVS and the Food Service department. My wife had to be cleaning the room because all EVS did was take out trash and linen and occasionally pass a wet rag on floor. Never touched the bathroom. Good service kept on sending wrong orders after menu requests were done.
My dad is there now. He went into the ER Monday night at 6. They put him and my mom in a room for 4 hours with no response. They had to call and ask for blankets because they were freezing. Then at 4 am they transferred him to the floor and told my mom 83 to drive over to where the new building is and park in the garage and go to the north tower. Well when you get in the garage there is no signage say in what is the north tower. She goes to the information desk south tower and two employees walk away. They come back and say what do you need she tells them she is trying to find this room. They told her go to this hall look for the elevator. They need better signage and or guides to help you find your way in this labyrinth.
Terrible hospital very dirty takes 40 rings for an operator to answer phones then nurses never answer at nurses station.terrible hospital don't go there.very bad experience. They run tests without yr consent! Broward hospital in all better than this one even 7 rivers is better. Might look into attorney advice.
I’m actually very happy to leave a review on the hospital staff doctors ,nurses, child life , food staff , cleaning team etc ! Everyone I came across were so nice !!! I actually cried leaving the hospital ,they treated me and my son so well ! It was the best decision to come to shands ! They really care about the kids they worked so hard to take care of my son . The doctors took the right decisions to keep my son alive . The nurses treated my son with love and care . I’m happy to be home but I do miss the staff . My son enjoyed himself as much as he could despite the circumstances . That is what you call hospitality!! Even brought an Xbox 360 in the room to boost his morale , mental health while he was laying in bed for days . What more can I ask for ! What a loving staff !! I’ve seen them treating other patients and it’s with the same love and care ! I wish I could do more to say how much you guys changed our lives in those 9 days ! Definitely made the hardest time in our lives the best ! Me and Leo appreciate everything you’ve done ! God bless you all ! Thank you too Nurse Darrin, Maddie Shawna I apologize if I forgot names . Nurse Darrin my son loved you so much !! Doctors & Surgeons Dr Petroze you’d saved my sons life thank you to you and your staff. Erin you made my sons day Savanah thanks for coming in everyday just to put a smile on my sons face . I wish I could remember the other ladies name she was amazing as well and soo sweet! Child life ! You are freaking awesome thanks for making the hospital fun for kids ! everything you’ve done to help my son feel happy during this time we appreciate it all I really can go on and on ! But Again thank you for your love and hospitality ! You all were meant to do what you do ! You made a big difference in our lives
Son had surgery on 4/7/23. Excellent surgeon. Pharmacy was shorthanded and the pharmacy tech was very rude!! Son had to stay in recovery due to no rooms being available. Released on Saturday morning with nurse telling him he couldn’t wheel him to the waiting area due to having to take care of another patient and he had to walk without assistance. Overall I thank God my son had a successful procedure. I recommend ENT Dr Conrad.
My mother was in the hospital for 10 days after receiving surgery for a compound tibial plateau fracture. Her orthopedic trauma surgeon was Dr. Thomas A Krupko. I first wanted to thank the hospital for letting my sister and I stay at the hospital for the duration of my mom’s hospitalization. I specifically wanted to state that Dr. Krupko and his team treated my mother with dignity and respect during her hospital stay as well as her follow up post surgery office visits. He was very professional and did an excellent job with her surgery and leg. He was very transparent about the surgery and the appropriate steps needed to get back to “normal activity” in due time. Thank to Dr. Krupko and his guidance, my mom is now walking, bicycling and living a more normal life. Our family is very grateful to Dr. Krupko and Shand’s Hospital and I would consider anyone blessed to have him as their surgeon.
