The Shawnee Heights Fire District provides fire suppression, rescue and rapid emergency medical response to 190 square miles of Shawnee County, Kansas including the communities of Tecumseh, Berryton, Pauline, Montara and Wakarusa.
The District, led by Chief Tom Garcia, is staffed by 9 Career Duty Officers supported by 40 to 45 part-time Firefighters. The district operates 4 fire stations, 3 of these are staffed 24/7 and another is staffed by part-time personnel as needed for emergency calls.

Station 21- 2626 SE Shawnee Heights RD, Tecumseh, KS
Station 23- 5301 SE California Ave, Topeka, KS
Station 25- SE 89th & Paulen RD, Berryton, KS
Part-Time Staffed Station:
Station 22- SE 2nd and Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh, KS
All members of the district must successfully complete Firefighter and Hazardous Materials Operations level training through the University of Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute. In addition, most members obtain certification as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) with the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services.
The District is governed by a 9 member board made up of elected Township Board members from Topeka, Tecumseh and Monmouth Townships. In addition, the distict provides contract services to a majority of Williamsport Township.
