Artists Vincent & Carolyn L Tolpo opened Shawnee Mountain Gallery, Studios, and Pottery in 1981. This significant historic structure was built in 1904 and is part of the Shawnee Historic District listed on the National Historic Register.
Shawnee Mountain Gallery offers unique one-of-a-kind art in many media. Visitors are welcome to talk with the artists or visit the pottery and see work in progress. Vincent’s popular landscape pottery shows the Contemporary Western terrain and mountains. Natural clay slips made of soil samples indigenous to the region are fired onto the pottery. Carolyn and Vincent also make art pottery, open-stock dinnerware, and functional work. Special orders are welcome. The pottery is oxidation fired 2291 F. The pottery is microwavable, ovenproof, lead-free, and dishwasher safe.
Carolyn’s designer jewelry features antique beads and semi-precious stones. Her three collections are Heirloom, Classic, and International.
The visiting public enjoys the wildflower gardens featuring abstract / assemblage sculptures created by the Tolpos.

Directions: Located just .2 miles east of mile-marker 217 on US HWY 285, the gallery is 5 miles west of Bailey. On the south side of the road watch for the gallery signs in front of historic Shawnee Mountain Gallery.
