About

It is the mission of the Shea Family Funeral Homes to assist in the recognition of the value of a life lived and to facilitate meaningful ways for the family and community to celebrate the memory of their loved one.

Description

We believe it is important to recognize that the selection of a particular type of service and merchandise, and for that matter, a service provider, entails more than reviewing a list of available items. Our belief is founded in the philosophy that each person we serve should be cared for in the manner in which we would wish to be cared for in the same situation.
Recognizing that each person is unique with unique needs we strive to provide care which honors this uniqueness. We believe that our ability to provide care at all levels of need and do so with compassion and professionalism sets us apart from other caregivers in our profession.
We also believe that providing service in the community necessitates participation in community activities and support of community entities and functions. For this reason we support our communities' churches, schools, libraries, arts, fire department, rescue squad, health care facilities, youth activities, historic buildings and events, fraternal organizations, charitable foundations and many more activities with a portion of the operating income we receive from providing service.

Tom and his team were excellent. They were patient and understanding while handling our daughter with the utmost care.
After cremating my mother 16 yrs ago I just realized I was grossly overcharged. I had no idea at the time how much a cremation and urn would cost without a viewing, $3000 !!!! Also I asked if I could spend a few private minutes with my mother but a man was standing in the doorway watching me. I felt rushed and needed at least 10 minutes with some privacy. Maybe he was there to prevent foul play?? But i still to this day felt i needed privacy. I recently spent $1000 for my brothers cremation. What a price difference and 16 yrs later!!
Yesterday we had the viewing hours for my son at the Hanson Wallbridge Funeral Home . The viewing was scheduled for 4:00 but we arrived a little early, approximately 3:45. When we walked in to the funeral parlor, the first thing I saw was a garbage bag containing my son’s belongings, sitting in a chair in the main entrance. The funeral director, Tom Lloyd, met us at the door. To me he said, “Condolences,” and handed me papers to sign, within one minute of walking in. I was crying and I said that I didn’t have my glasses and could barely see the words on the papers or comprehend what I was trying to read. He told me I needed to do it anyway, and stood there in silence staring as I continued to attempt to read the form, which I then just signed without reading in full. Mr. Lloyd then explained to us that my deceased son was in the chapel, on a gurney unclothed, but that they “put a hospital gown on him, sprayed him with disinfectant and covered him with a blanket. My sons girlfriend was now in shock and could not feel she could enter the chapel, and waited in the foyer while We went in. Because my sons girlfriend was struggling we left the funeral home at around 4:15 and my younger son and two friends stayed behind to finish paying their respects to TJ . The minute we left the funeral home, the director entered the chapel and stood with his arms crossed staring at Aaron as he hugged his brother. Aaron became uncomfortable and aske, “can I help you?” to which the director said,”I’ll give you a few more minutes.” This was at approximately 4:20.Mr. Lloyd’s complete lack of respect or consideration was a complete disgrace. The remaining members of our group al home left the funeral just before 4:30 at the directors insistence. Every person in attendance was devastated by what we experienced. We all felt that we were treated this way because of blatant discrimination based on the circumstances that led to TJs death. It was more horrible than words can express Instead of allowing this to be a time of grieving and solace, we all felt like we had been attacked. We are still in shock, and utterly disgusted and traumatized by this unthinkable treatment. We will seek legal recourse.
The most caring and professional people to work with. Highly recommend their services.
