ABOUT KNOXVILLE
Knoxville is located just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is home to The University of Tennessee Volunteer sports teams and the Knoxville Ice Bears. Knoxville is in a temperate climate zone where the summers are always green and gentle; the fall color is truly magnificent as hills light up in brilliant autumn hues; winter is brief and mild, and spring arrives early and stays for a long time, featuring glorious dogwoods, azaleas and other beautiful flowers. Knoxville is situated in the Great Appalachian Valley (known locally as the Tennessee Valley), about halfway between the Great Smoky Mountains to the east and the Cumberland Plateau to the west. Both mountain ranges modify the type of weather that plains areas at the same latitude experience by slowing and weakening cold winter air from the north and tempering hot summer winds from the west and south
