It's a traditional Amish store with "Brand"names from various locations. Some of the items here appear manufactured and sold but others are obviously made elsewhere and repackaged as their brand. Use caution when buying items here as they are something you can pickup elsewhere cheaper. They make sandwiches for lunch which are tasty but feel like you could do this cheaper also. You are paying more for the experience and such. Bought two plastic bags of items and cost 73.00. 73.00 will buy you about 4 to 5 bags at the typical Walmart. It's a nice store and fun to visit overall just watch your money or you won't have any left. Nice drive and country back roads. 10 dollars for glass cleaner?
Amazed at everything this little store has. Rows and rows of candy and snacks, a deli counter, sandwiches, frozen pies, fresh bread…. We got quite a haul here. Nice staff too and only a slight detour from the route from Raleigh to Boone.
Such a wonderful variety of Moravian homemade and fresh foods, etc. Wide selection of candies, snack foods, teas, coffee, cheese, oats, homemade canned food, butter, and pies and more. They also have a deli! It is a great place to visit and shop.
I was reading an article about the different types of butter. There was American, which I don’t prefer and Irish, which I use a lot, European, which I’ve never tried, and Amish which I never knew existed. So I googled where I could buy Amish butter. Much to my surprise, it showed this location in Hamptonville, which I had never been to before and it was only 15 minutes away from where I live. So I headed there, I bought my butter and I can’t wait to try it on some bread and in my baking. I never realized there was an Amish community so close to where I now live. I grew up in Ohio and we had several different Amish communities around us, Walnut Creek being one of them! It truly is a small world!
Yes! This place is wonderful! We got amazing sandwiches and then stocked up on some unique sweet treats to take home with us. It was perfectly clean and well stocked with items you can't find anywhere else, like pickled mushrooms which are delicious, btw. They have homemade goods galore, and the outdoor seating is the most comfortable seating you'll ever sit in. Definitely want to come back for more!!
Friendly staff, excellent baked goods, great selection of deli meats and cheeses, jams jellies, and many more jars of fruits, vegetables and dry goods. Fresh made sandwiches to eat on the porch. That's just the start. The list goes on! Variety of Amish goods that are authentic. Have to travel 1 & half hour to get there and it's worth the trip. Reminiscent of time we lived in the Lancaster county area of Pennsylvania. Ron and Barbara.
This review is of the Shiloh general store. How do I even begin to say enough great things about the people that work here or the food that is produced here or the items sold? From the largest selection of peanuts and dried fruits to the massive assortment of jams jellies and preserves along with an oh my God Baker's dream aisle filled with flowers this place is so amazing and the people so beyond absolutely friendly I cannot spout enough happiness about coming to this place. I randomly found out about the store by watching a YouTube video on the Amish that live in Pennsylvania and the narrator made a comment about this store saying if you're ever in the North Carolina area you need to come and see it. So early this morning we got in the truck and drove over a hundred miles one way just to come try the fresh baked bread, donuts and to see what they had to offer. Make the trip, make the time just do it you will not be disappointed.
Lots of items to choose from that you won't find in local stores, tge deli lunches are awesome on homemade bread. Eating out on the porch on the Amish handmade furniture is a peaceful treat
Went for lunch and shopping. Bread is so good and that makes the sandwiches extra good. Wholesome atmosphere and food. I swing by there whenever traveling nearby.
Great store with nice deli section and good sandwiches. Bread made so fresh sometimes it is stoll warm to the touch. Try the tomato basil you will not be disappointed!
