Absolutely unbelievable place. The folks that run this place Mitch and his wife are just the nicest, most wonderful folks you'll ever meet. The cabins are perfect cabins - amazing views right on the lake, easy access to everything you need to have a wonderful stay, and they simply couldn't be any cuter. We spent a weekend here at the end of the summer with some friends and we wanted to stay a week. Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful sunrises right out your front window, easy boat rental, very nice firewood, and all the kitchen stuff you need to make your meals. Our cabin #2 was huge - dining room table easily big enough for our group of six to play games all night. There's a group of folks that hang out each evening by the main lobby - grillin and chillin and having a grand old time. One of the very best weekends away that we've ever had.
Unbelievable. That's an understatement. We were in cottage 3. Plenty of room upstairs and downstairs for three families. We only had two. They have a boat landing right there, with covered slips. The lodge has a pool table. Some beers on tap and pizzas for sale. The neighbors are far enough from you. We did have a couple kids and a dog wander through our lot a few times, This was because we seem to have the best access to the lake to fish on. A little bit of a interruption but not that bad overall. I am going to give this five stars but if I were to give any type of feedback I would say the price for the boat slip was a bit more than I have paid out other places. Other places have thrown it in for free. We paid 24 a day, each family had a boat. We would stay at this location again.
Mitch and Mara are always very welcoming hosts. It is a wonderful resort with everything a person needs. Tons of amenities, as well as a breathtaking view of Leech lake. Great fishing, swimming, and motorcycle riding in the area. The other seasonal campers are all very welcoming as well. We book a year ahead of time to reserve our spot.
We stayed over the summer and out of many years of heading north - this was by far the best resort we've been to! We already booked for next summer and plan to continue to come here yearly. Cabin was great and very clean and well kept - owners are amazing!Rooms: 5/5
We booked cabin 1 for 5 night with the pontoon rental for 3 days. We had a great time. The cabin had pretty much everything we need for pans towels and beds. It was very well maintained. Mitch and Mara were very nice. My 5 year old enjoyed the sandy beach. One of the days we rented the boat we had a storm so they only charged us for half the day. Firewood and gas for the boat are both very reasonably priced. The lodge and a variety of things for sale. We forgot stuff for s'mores and they had the stuff at the lodge. Would definitely come back! Cabins were also very reasonably priced.
Wonderful family friendly spot to stay! Great customer service, beautiful cabin and view. Location is good too. Nice to get away and relax and love that it's just a few quaint cottages. Kids Park could use a little love but can't wait to come back. Loved the convenience of everything and the lodge with beers on tap etc.Looking fwd to our next trip there!
My Dad and his parents started coming here in the 60's. My Dad started bringing my family up here so we've been coming here for 30+yrs. It is a great place to get away. The views are spectacular and the fishing is good as well. The owners of the resort are friendly and very accommodating. I would highly recommend Shores of Leech Lake. The town of Walker is close by with shop's and restaurants and a grocery store. There is even a liquor store close for those who need to get those adult beverages! Come check it out, you will Love it!!
The campground was exactly what we needed. Beautiful beach with lots for kids of all ages. Bike rentals and canoe/kayak/paddleboat rentals came at no charge with a campsite. Bike paths lead right to downtown Walker. The owners are very accommodating. Most sites are seasonal with a few left for short-term. The seasonal families were all so welcoming. Fun for adults and kids of all ages! We will be back for the 4th of July!
Very homey and comfortable cabin right on the lake. We rented it for my sister's birthday celebration. Beds were decent. We had one of the pull out couches which wasn't the best. Also the bathroom configuration is really weird.. You have to walk through one to get to the other. Water pressure was terrible. Overall though, it was a really nice weekend and all of the issues were tolerable from a cabin!
It must have been serendipity which lead me to chance a late-evening call to Shores of Leech Lake, needing just a one-night stay in passing through the Walker MN area. I could not have been more blessed with the experience I had. Upon arriving to the the resort, I boneheadedly backed my 36’ motor home into a shallow ditch in the dark, but a knock on the door of the lodge produced owner Mitch, who was not deterred from grabbing his pickup and tow strap, and along with another seasonal resident’s pickup, were able to free me from my predicament and lead me graciously directly to my assigned space. There are only a handful of open spaces, but they are wide and have easy-access hookups, even in the dark. In the morning I was greeted with coffee, muffins, and friendly seasonal guests at the lodge. I cannot more highly recommend this family-run campground, cottages, and marina.
