I've been here at least four times now in the last year or so! The ultimate feast meal is not a bad deal if you come here with 3-4 other people. We had 3 containers of leftover... The brisket and chicken were a little dry, but adding BBQ sauce or beans made them tastier. The corn bread & onion rings were yummy! My fiancé's dad is gonna order catering from this place for our rehearsal dinner in July! So excited to have a BBQ meal with my loved ones!
We visited from Wisconsin. Food was great and customer service was outstanding. I do recommend the beef ribs. They were sooo good. Will come back one day again.Food: 5/5
Ordered a brisket platter with some spare ribs. They were both delicious. I asked for brisket flat slices. They were tender with moisture. It was not seasoned very well though, I didn't mind at all since they provided table salt. The only thing is that the bottom layer brisket was entirely chopped brisket... kinda deceiving. The ribs on the other hand were St Louis cuts. Very tender and well seasoned. Fats were perfectly rendered. I enjoyed that very much. There were quite a few customers in the restaurant, so apparently a very popular location. Service was good. Overall, I recommend their BBQ.
Chicken was a touch over cooked and the regular sauce had a weird sweet taste but the ribs and that spicy sauce was killer mac n cheese was unique and very tasty alsoFood: 4/5
I had a hankering for some barbecue, so I thought I would give Shorty’s a try. I had the Texas brisket grilled cheese with onions straws, Jack cheese and Chipotle aioli. I also had a side of Mac-n-cheese and a side of sausage. Everything was good, including the service.Food: 4/5
I ordered chicken strips and fries appetizer. Never had this before at Shorty's but it was recommended. It was awesome! The fries were hot and absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection! The chicken strips were crunchy on the outside and tender meat on the inside. Perfectly cooked.Food: 5/5
The smoke that fills your nostrils as you pull into the parking lot tells you your belly will be delighted. Great flavors from the meats and the choice of two sauces will makes anyone come back for more. As I ravaged my plate of heaven I thought I should take pictures so my 5 followers can see this magnificent display. I almost couldn't put the food down to get my phone.
There are good experiences. There are great experiences. Then there are religious experiences, the experiences that make you question your life choices up to that point. From the establishment of Fort Industry at the mouth of the Swan creek in 1805, through its rise as an industrial powerhouse, and on to its long slow decline over the latter part of the 20th century and into the first decades of the 21st, outsiders have regarded the city of Toledo with benevolent curiosity and neglect, wondering if there was a reason to visit. For those reading this, may I humbly, sincerely suggest that there is a reason to visit, if not for the betterment of your body, then of your soul. That reason is Shorty’s True American Roadhouse. And what a reason. Who knew the levels to which you could elevate the humble legume, simple by layering in smoked meats? Why do they not tell you in the fancy cook books that the primary ingredients of cornbread are air and love? Because they have not been to Shorty’s. We have journeyed across international barriers and dueled with surly border guards to be here, in Toledo, Ohio. And I urge you to do the same. For your sanity. For your satisfaction. For your soul. Eat here. Also Kara is awesome!
The absolute best chicken wings I have ever had. The cornbread starter they give you is delicious. The service is amazing, staff give you a lot of care. And it was just a perfect dinner experience for me. Get the onion rings you won’t be sorry
Really good barbecue and great service. I got the sliders so I could try one of each meat and was a good choice. Mac and cheese was some of the best I have ever had!Food: 5/5
