is Showboat?

"The Progressive® Insurance Chicago Boat Show® has been postponed one more year to January 2023. The decision to postpone the show is a result of the current needs and economics of the Chicagoland market, including the supply chain disruptions and historically low market-specific boat inventory. While we plan for an exciting return of this longstanding boating tradition, we’ll share the latest and greatest in boats, gear, and boating life at and @DiscoverBoating. See you on the water!"

First time coming to the boat show and I admit I was a bit overwhelmed when I came in. My dad used to have a boat when I was growing up, but it went MIA in 2010 when him and my step-mom moved out of state. Since I wasn't sure what brand of boat it was the brand might not even be around anymore for all I know, I had no idea what to look at. I'm a speedboat person, as I enjoy tubing, so I knew where my priorities were. Upon looking around the show floor, I was very happy to find the Scarab Jet Boat and I just wanted to sit in that boat all day long! It was like none of the other boats mattered and all that I could care about was this Jet Boat. I felt so happy and so comfortable in the boat and I picked up a card from one of the sales reps for future reference, as I currently don't have the money to buy a boat. Since I've never been to any of the previous shows, I thought the size, for me personally, was just fine as there were plenty of speed boats, pontoons, and yachts to look at. There were some interesting vendors and I wish I would have taken the time to chill in the Corona lounge and enjoy the musician that was preforming; he did a wonderful job and the music sounded wonderful! The fishing area was a nice touch and the simulated suffering area looked really cool. There was a pirate ship for kids to play on and a sand pit, too; there was a really cool sand sculpture in the middle of the sand pit. And, it was nice to see the Coast Guard there as well, since I'm not sure how many people know that the Great Lakes have a Coast Guard. The one thing I was sad about was the fact that Sail GP wasn't there as a vendor/promoter. I found it interesting that in the complementary bags that you picked up before entering the show had a flyer inside for discount tickets when Sail GP comes to Chicago this year, but that was the only mention of Sail GP. Perhaps someone from Sail GP can come to the show next year and promote it a bit more, since I have no clue how many people know about Sail GP and their mission to get people interested in yacht racing.
I enjoyed myself! Lots of boats to see that you can freely get into.....for the yachts there maybe a line to wait in. It's also family friendly with things to do for the kids. Parking is $25 though and about 3 blocks away.
Went for the strictly sailboat, boat show and rv. There are NO SAILBOATS OR RVS. if you are looking for a pontoon or a ski boat then this is the place for you. Anything else you are going to leave disappointed. As far as a powerboat show. Detroits is better. Now having said that. The pontoon and ski boats and the very few cabin cruisers they have were displayed nicely the venue does a nice job. Just very misleading the limited information they give out. And they should update this. We were told as much by the nice folks that worked the event.
I've been attending the shows for the past 10 years. During that time, the number of vendors has decreased, the number sailboats has decreased, the number of power boats has increased and the RV section has increased. It's a good time with lots of walking and things to see. If you are interested in getting on the boats, go early in the day, as the crowds grow, the lines grow. ;
If you are just into boats, then you will be ok. I was looking forward to boats and R.V. no R.V.s.. nice boats, plenty to see. You can even practice suffering with no extra cost . You can kill a few hours here with no problems. If you're only into boats.
If you want to look at power boats this will be a great show for you. Tons of power boats. If you want to look at a wide array of RV’s and Sailboats you will probably be disappointed. They are totally an afterthought. Very limited selections in this area. Only one class B to look at. Nothing in light weight towable’s for small to mid SUVs. A few cool sailboats but you’ll probably feel underwhelmed.
Great family fun awesome times a ton of boats
