Owner Bio:
Jerry L Shannon, born on April 24, 1956 in Farmington, Missouri exhibited a creative side even as a child. He kept his brothers and sisters laughing as he told dramatic stories, and acted out the scenes. Jerry attended school in Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas. In 1974 he graduated from Meade, Kansas. His drawings took a back seat to earning a living, but Jerry’s talent continued to dominate his work, and his way of winding down was to pick up his pencil and sketch pad to draw.
As a young man Jerry moved to California to work as a floor-covering installer; nine years later he moved back to Kansas to operate his own flooring business for several years. Never willing to settle for something ordinary, Jerry worked intricate patterns into the floors and walls he covered with tile, carpet, resin and concrete. Jerry spent 35 years creating giant art compositions, until he suffered an illness that made it both necessary and possible for him to turn back to his lifelong hobby of drawing with charcoal or ink, and painting with oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastels. The subjects for his paintings and drawings come from his active imagination and from the outdoors.
Jerry Shannon spent many happy days each year hunting and fishing in places like Colorado and Alaska. The wildlife and fish he saw during those hunting trips seem to magically appear on his canvases. He attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. He has been a Co-president of the Images Art club, Student Senator, Peer Educator Counselor, bestowed the Presidents Honor Roll four times and the Deans Honor Roll three times, as well as a member of the National Honor Society and Graduated “cum laude” with a 3.72 Grade point average. Jerry plans to open Showtime fine Arts Gallery, teach art to others, and become a professional artist since the completion of his studies.
