Excellent Dosas and Gobi Manchurian! The staff are kind and very helpful. The atmosphere is a bit funky and a bit too heavy on the blue lighting for my taste. Some of the street food options are very salty. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be back for more Dosas.Food: 4/5
The restaurant is located in Westmont in a shopping center with other stores including a Indian groceries store and as such finding a parking space is not easy. The restaurant is small with some space set aside for bigger parties and the number of tables are limited. There's a wait to be seated and we reached there at peak time and waited a good 10 minutes. The waiters and the manager are preoccupied and we had to draw attention to an empty table to get seated. The menu is newly printed and has a lot of choices in different cuisine of India for those familiar with it. South Indian cuisine is limited to dosa varieties and other rice based dishes. The masala soda is good for those who like the traditional "jal jeera". There's no soda in the drink itself but a variety of Indian spices that aid in digestion and general health. The onion rava masala dosa looked good when it arrived with holes that I mentioned in my review of A2B's same item but soon turned into a nightmare. The chef must have forgotten about the dosa as it was desiccated/dehydrated beyond imagination to the extent the masala has become dry and the onion had caramelized. I was joking with my family that the dosa was hard and crisp enough to chop up vegetables. I could not even eat half of it. The sambar is good and a decent quantity but of the chutneys, only the tomato chutney is very good, the coconut one is ok but the third one of fried lentils is insipid, though the quantity is once again like the "tabbaruk" or prasad you get in your places of worship. At $12 it's certainly not worth it. A couple of ready-made Gits rava dosa mixes for half the price, from the next door Indian store would have been a better experience for my taste buds. Anyway the family enjoyed their items and it seems like my experience was the only sour one. Perhaps the illinois culinary world does not want to satiate my penchant for a taste of real onion rava dosa. Vegetarian options: This is a vegetarian restaurant. Everything here is made without any meat or byproducts of meat.
Very well prepared and presented food! The biryani was excellent and my daughter loved the naan and paneer makhani. They introduced a new desert Panacotta and it was delicious!Food: 5/5
The food was tasty but the hospitality was very poor. They took around 10 minutes to note down our order then bought the food very late too. I ordered medu vada, they were very small in size at least they should have increased the number of vadas. Overall the food was great. I really loved everything I ordered.
This is probably the best South Indian food I had in a while. I started coming here 5-6 months ago and tried many different dishes and all of them are good. I try to come here every weekend. Prabhu is a great host and I come here as much for the food as for the hospitality. Highly recommended!!Food: 4/5
We catered from Shree two weekends in a row and Prabhu guided us seamlessly from start to finish. He provides his expert opinion on how much food is needed for the number of guests. Communication and professionalism are excellent - he called to confirm periodically and he even provided follow-up calls to make sure everything went well. The food both veg and non-veg at both events got so many glowing remarks from our guests - it was excellent. Shree has and will continue to be our go to place for catering needs!
The food was amazing- fresh, beautifully prepared and delicious. We went for lunch and had the lunch platter which had an assortment of Indian vegetarian dishes. The service was excellent and the host/owner was very welcoming and hospitable. Would definitely go back! Vegetarian options: It is an all vegetarian restaurant. Parking: Ample parking in lot.
update 01/07 Changing to 4 stars from 2 The place seemed to have updated when I visited last . We went for a dine in this time during lunch hours on a weekend . ordered the mysore dosa , masala dosa , vada sambar and dahi bhalla . surprisingly dahi bhalla was quite good . I didn't expect the taste to be this good from a south indian place . The owner was very polite and a humble guy. service was fast ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- was in the area and was craving some Indian food. I searched on Grubhub to see what was around me and saw shree restaurant. The prices seemed high there so I went to shree's own website and the prices there were much lesser. I called the restaurant to place my order of chana bhatura and samosa chat. I went to pick it up and I was charged the grub hub pricing. I did not realize when I was paying but when I went home and saw the bill attached I was surprised they charged me higher than what was advertised. Now they may come back saying the prices are old prices... sure but that will be false advertising. Review of the food . .. chana bhatura was decent ... not good ... chana with no gravy does not go with bhatura . samosa chat had well packaging and samosas were fresh. Vegetarian options: veg only menu
Shree is amazing because it’s all vegetarian food, so it’s great to have a such a wide selection. I don’t know a lot about Indian food, and the service was really nice because the manager and the waiters gave us suggestions and told us about the food! I also think everything was a good price, it’s not expensive. The food was so tasty and the service made it even better.
Exceptional food! If you are looking for authentic and delicious Indian food, this place is one to try!!! Will certainly come back time and time again! Prabhu and the staff are very attentive and professional. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
