Shriver Hall Concert Series presents solo and chamber classical music recitals in Baltimore
The mission of Shriver Hall Concert Series is to foster and maintain an organization dedicated to the making of music consonant with the highest aspirations of musical art, creating performances and providing educational and training programs at the highest level of excellence. This is accomplished with the continued support of its audiences, governmental assistance on both the federal and local levels, and through the generosity of many foundations, businesses, and individuals.
Shriver Hall Concert Series was founded in 1966 by members of The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) faculty interested in enriching the lives of Baltimore citizens by presenting concerts of classical music performed by international touring artists at affordable ticket prices. The Series continues that mission today by offering a minimum of eight concerts of chamber music and solo recitals from September to May as well as ongoing outreach residencies, a “Discovery Series” of four free concerts at the BMA, and educational events such as lectures and seminars. Concerts feature a mix of seasoned world renowned musicians as well as the next generation of rising talent. The concerts provide Baltimore citizens an opportunity to hear artists that regularly perform in the musical capitals of the world. The Series offers easy access and secure parking. Though the majority of our concerts are held in the Shriver Auditorium at The Johns Hopkins University, the Series is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that relies solely on earned income, grants and contributions to meet a balanced budget.
