The atmosphere was nice and service good for how long they have been open. The food was alright. The crab dip was the most enjoyable part of our experience tonight. I did the oyster sampler, of which the raw and steamed oysters were fine nothing amazing, though the charbroiled were a letdown relatively to other places I have had them. The low country boil my wife had was ok almost no seasoning on it when it came out though better options exist here in town at multiple locations. As a whole it is decent as a chain and if we didn’t have other good seafood places in town I would give it a recommend. I would recommend Boiling Shrimp over the Oyster shack for quality and price.
Not a good first experience. This was an oyster basket, NOTHING was taken from the plate before picture was taken. I hope they get it together, was really hoping for a great seafood place!
We had a great experience here.. The staff was awesome, the food was amazing!
The restaurant was clean and the wait staff was friendly. The food was not as good as we’d hoped. We ordered calamari, fried oysters, and a combo Poboy. Flavor wise everything was good. Like the calamari was really good but better with the marinara or ranch as opposed to the sauce they do serve it with which is a sweet Thai chili. The oysters while they tasted fresh and they did not taste fully fried. They were pretty runny. Also I bit into a couple of cold shrimp in spite of them being fried and they also were not cooked completely. My fries were cold but my daughter’s fries were fine. Even with the military discount I do not believe this was worth $40.
Enjoyed our meal. Large portions for the Low Country options.
My husband and I were in a mood for GOOD seafood but honestly didn't want to drive all the way to Savannah. This place exceeded all expectations. The quality of seafood was amazing and tasted great. Atmosphere was interesting, felt like somewhere you could go for date night or to take a family. We had amazing service from Kim and the prices were also right in the ballpark of what you expect for the quality, if not a bit lower! Think $14 for a shrimp and grits entree and you take half home. Overall, I'll be going back.
This was my first visit to the restaurant. We went Friday at 5:30. It was not busy at that time, but it was picking up. Our waitress was very nice, and took good care of us. I got mahi tacos. The fish was blackened, and tasted good on its own. In the taco, however, I couldn't taste it. They had more lettuce then fish. I will not order it again. We had blackened scallops as an appetizer. They were good, but the butter like sauce that came with them did not taste good to us. It has a margarine taste. We really were not sure what it was. Melted butter would have been nice. I will eat here again, but the food is just ok. A place to go when no one wants to cook.
Meh. I liked the atmosphere in there, but didn't really feel welcomed or well attended to by our server. I ordered the shrimp and oyster basket. The fries were limp and the seafood was pretty small. My husband's shrimp tacos were like Tex Mex tacos lettuce, tomato cheese, not like real seafood tacos corn tortillas with slaw and tangy sauce.
My first time there was wonderful. I ordered the fish and chips and it was delicious. The fish was perfectly fried, huge filets, and a mountain of fries. I'm not sure what happened in a week, but the second time the filets were small and there were barely enough fries to cover the bottom of the plate. My boyfriend even asked them to fry another piece of fish because mine were significantly larger than his. Not sure we'll be returning with this level of inconsistency.
First visit and we enjoyed it for the most part, but portion to cost were very upside down and for a Saturday evening it was pretty empty in the place which might explain why when we passed by this past Saturday 6/22 the sign had been removed; they had just opened in Jan 2019. Know your customer base or if you have one before opening a business, and please recognize that most customers don't mind paying a high price if what you are getting is actually worth it. Cheesecake Factory and Longhorn are great examples of getting your money's worth.
