When we drove up we wondered if it was going to be good or not. It was questionable. Boy were we wrong. The food was fantastic. Their Thai tea was one of the best I've ever had in a long time. Service was excellent. If you like Thai food you have to check it out. It looks like a little run down place but it's clean and I'm going back for sure. At lunch time it got full.
Super great delicious high quality food!! You can tell it's quality homemade.
The red curry and shrimp spring rolls - really good! Best Thai food in Bastrop!
I normally don't leave bad reviews but my experience with this place was so bad that I needed to leave one. I was so excited to have found this place. A local Thai restaurant with great reviews? Heck yea! My husband and I went in and ordered almost $100 worth of food for our family of 5. We were told it would be about 25-30 minutes. We paid and told them we'd be back shortly for our order. Ended up coming back an hour and 10 minutes later after running errands. Our order wasn't ready. Not only that but the owner couldn't find that an order was placed. After looking for the receipt for several minutes and going to the back twice to ask the cook, the owner finally found my receipt. He said they had forgotten to make it so I would have to wait longer. HOW DO YOU FORGET AN ORDER THAT BIG? HOW DO YOU FORGET AN ORDER PERIOD??? I told him I wanted a refund. He said sorry, shrugged his shoulders, and laughed about it. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! This was my first and LAST time going here. If you want good Thai food, go to Austin. Better service, prices, and bigger portions for your money! Worth the drive.
Update: My wife was informed by a friend that they stopped using the really strong smelling cleaner so we chanced going here again. We really enjoyed it and the food tasted great! Siam Thai is definitely now on our list of good restaurants in the Bastrop area! I'm so happy they listen to their customers. Original review: The food was very good. We were really enjoying it until they started cleaning the table with a VERY strong mix of cleaner. The overpowering scent ruined the taste of the food and I was coughing and clearing my throat for an hour after leaving. My wife is more sensitive than I am and couldn't take the smell. She couldn't finish her food and had to go sit in the car while I packed up our food into to-go containers and paid. It's a shame they use such strongly scented cleaners. We really liked the food but we won't be going back.
I had Thai Iced Coffee, Chicken Pad Thai noodles & shrimp spring rolls. The coffee was great, the spring rolls delicious with a nice peanut sauce. The noodles were a little undercooked, but the dish was very tasty. The staff were very friendly and we chatted about Burma & Thailand.
Late lunch here on 3/23/21. YUCK! No service. Stood in the entrance for 4-5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. This was about 1:30pm. Only one other person in the joint. Beverage selection was limited so we settled for Diet Cokes. We got served room temperature cans and half glasses of ice.nice menu selection but much too pricey. We ordered two kinds of appetizers. When the waitress brought the food there was no utensils and no napkins. This was the last time she came to the table. She sat at the counter and spent the time laughing at something on her phone. This place is a dump!
Camping nearby & got takeout Tom Yum & Pad Kee Mao. Both were very good! I went in to order. Waitress was very business-like. No, she wasn't warm & fuzzy, but she had 3 tables of diners, me, and a constant stream of phone orders. Nothing sat around & waited to be served; everything came to tables or me as soon as the kitchen gave it to her. If you need warm & fuzzy, try their takeout. The food is definitely worth trying! I'm thinking about returning tonight!
Authentic Thai right here in Tahitian, folks! Hot and fresh in 10 minutes. Fabulous!
Love this place! Fresh ingredients and nice wait staff. Food can be a bit spicy. I love spice, but it was a bit much for me. They use a scale of 1 to 5. I asked for 3 my first visit and had to order more rice to tone down the heat. I love the green curry and also the Tom kha. The shrimp are plump and cooked to perfection.
