Sicilian Cafe

About

Fine dining in the tradition of Southern Italy.

Description

Established in 1984 in a small white house on Walnut St. We served pasta and pizza on red table cloths, and offered nine wines in no-stem traditional wine glasses. Six years later we moved to our current home, a cozy historic building overlooking Little Chico Creek.

Our local farm fresh vegetables, delicious seafood and over 150 wines have won the hearts (and tastes) of three generations of Chico locals. A legacy of family recipes passed from the old word to our master chef and made to order.

We have hosted special moments from wedding proposals, anniversaries, celebrity drop in's, private parties, corporate presentations, and great-great grand birthdays.

Dine in our romantic creekside patio for a full view of the creek, enjoy four star service with exquisite taste. Make your reservation for tonight.

"We are a family owned & operated restaurant, serving the Chico community since 1984. Many of our recipes were handed down from our family who immigrated from Sicily in the 1950's. We began in a small house in 1984, slowly expanded over the years and moved to our current location late 2022. We now offer a full bar with small plates & a daily happy hour, a banquet room for private parties, and three course dinners that include local sourdough bread, antipasto and your choice of soup or salad with your entrees. We look forward to see you!"

Everything was delicious and beautiful! Over the top service and amazing food!Food: 5/5
We always enjoy dinner here. Excellent appetizers - calamari, shrimp scampi and muscles were delicious. Nice gluten free/dairy free options just ask. Steaks were very good. Service was solid and friendly, especially for a very busy night.Food: 4/5

I recently went here for dinner with a group of friends. I was thrilled to find that they have a good selection of gluten-free pasta dishes, and the one I selected was rather good. As an Italian, I'm quite picky. The atmosphere is fancy in a pretentious-yet-towny kind of way--which isn't really my thing. The place was clean, the lighting was nice, the decor was tasteful, but they had butcher paper over the tablecloth. The prices are high but not exorbitant for a "fancy" Italian restaurant in Chico. Some of the staff were somewhat impatient with the disabled persons I was with, but others were understanding. One diner needed to ask a lot of questions to understand the menu. One person he asked was kind and patient, while another made it perfectly clear that answering more questions was not how they intended to spend their shift. Still, it worked out in the end, and we had a nice, if somewhat odd visit. Dietary restrictions: They have excellent gluten-free pasta. I wonder if they make it from scratch on-site. They cook it perfectly al dente, and there is no weird taste that screams, "this is dietary restriction food". It's everything pasta should be, minus the gluten.
The Garlic Bread is incredible, LOADED with real roasted garlic! Enjoyed the Mushroom appetizer very much. Chicken Picatta was very good. It had a large portion of protein and great flavor. However, the noodles were a bit soft, or past 'aldente'. Lasagna was alright, nothing special. The Tiramisu was awesome! I think it would be a nice touch to offer freshly cracked pepper and/or freshly grated parmesam upon serving things like salads and entrees.
Service was strange. Not rude, not but certainly not polite. The waiter acted like he didn't know why we were there? There's not much in the way of decent Italian food in Chico, but Sicilian Cafe accomplishes that, at least. It's just decent Italian food. The prices were very fair, it just wasn't that good. We did notice, having shown up about 8 minutes before our reservation, that they seated us but didn't talk to us or bring us water until that exact 8 minute mark. Coincidence or policy?
I do the small and medium plates in bar. 1/2 loaf of garlic bread to start. I not tried dinning roomFood: 4/5
Elegant and cozy little eatery serving up both Italian-American and genuine Italian dishes on a beautiful creek. Food is unrivaled by any other Italian restaurant in Northern California, with a full meal including a soup or salad and antipasto plate in addition to your dinner. The service provided is personalized and caring, and the Chef will ensure that your needs are met. The building can feel cramped for larger individuals, and prices are a little up there, however when you're able to look past this you will find a truly enjoyable restaurant which you will not be able to wait to visit again.
Very happy that they have a full bar at their new location. Food has always been good and consistent. We have never been disappointed when we eat here. Service was also very good.Food: 5/5
Seriously some of the best food you can get in Chico. And the atmosphere there leaves nothing to be desired. Perfect date spot!
