We spared no expense for our daughter's nursery so we went to Simply Baby in Newtown in the winter of 2015. We were helped by Laura the store manager. We ordered a Natart crib, dresser, glider, and night stand and a Dutalier glider spending close to $5000 in the end. Our daughter was born in early August and the furniture was delivered to our house a few days after we came home from the hospital. The crib, dresser, and glider all arrived damaged. I immediately called the store and spoke to Laura. She was unsympathetic cold and abrupt. All she wanted was photos of the damage, which I sent her immediately. Days went by w/o a response so I called and Laura told me the glider manufacturer who couldn't send a new base for 2-3 weeks. In the meantime, they would give us a glider off of their showroom. Laura acted as though she was doing me the biggest favor in the world and made sure to say several times that this meant that they wouldn't be able to sell that glider while it was in my house. She also said the store's repairman would have to come to my house and look at the other damaged furniture before the store would then decide whether they would fix the furniture or replace it. Laura refused to refund us any part of the cost of the furniture. She said that she "might" be able to give us a gift card but would need to talk to the owner, since she was already going out of her way for us by giving us a loaner chair. She also refused to give us another version of our crib that was in the store. When I asked to speak to the owner Laura refused to let me talk to him. She said that he had hired her to make these decisions and she could not understand why I was being so difficult when she had already gone above and beyond for us. My husband and I both tried calling the store to talk to the owner. Laura told me again that there was nothing the owner would do and she made all the decisions. I said to her that I felt that she was very unsympathetic and not once had she even apologized for the inconvenience. Laura said that she had apologized and that she understood what it was like to have a new baby b/c she had recently become a "great aunt". We also tried emailing the owner and his wife neither had the courtesy to answer us. Laura also said that they would not replace the furniture and instead would get pain from the company but the paint wouldn't arrive for 6-8 weeks. The new chair base arrived at the end of September although we would never have known if we hadn't called the store. Laura gave us a great deal of trouble with delivering the chair and told us we couldn't have it for a week even though SB had its own truck. By the middle of October we still had not heard anything about the paint for our furniture. We contacted the store, and a few days later Laura told us the paint was in. The repairman came to our house at the end of the month - at no time since then has Laura or anyone from SB ever contacted us to find out if we were satisfied. At no time has she ever offered any type of refund or gift card for our difficulties. Out of all of the stores we dealt with in preparation for our child's arrival Simply Baby was the absolute worst. We absolutely regret buying our furniture there and would never ever shop in that store again. Their customer service is non-existent and they do not stand behind the products they sell. They clearly did not care about anything more than getting our money. If we had to do it all over again we would buy our furniture from Buy Buy Baby or Babies R Us - both of those stores gave us excellent customer service. If you're looking for a store that goes by the motto "the customer is always right" - Simply Baby is definitely not the place for you. I have never in my life shopped at a store where the owner, who was clearly on premises, refused to speak to the customer. We would never ever recommend Simply Baby - spend your money elsewhere!
I bought 2 full complete nursery sets. One set had a crack on the night stand and the headboard of the crib . I made several calls and emails with pictures and never got a return call back.
