In March 2011 when my daughter was born, I began looking at the products we use on a daily basis around the house and on our bodies. I wanted to be using the safest most natural products that I could for her. Then in November 2011, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, upon much research, I decided that I truly believe that MS is a man-made disease. It is a product of our environment and the pollutants that we harm ourselves with each day. I became even more focused on getting rid of as many harmful conventional products as I could. I wanted things to be simple, back to the basics. As I began discovering my new favorite “homemade” products, I had many people asking me for my recipes and many more asking me to make them some of the products because they just did not have time to make their own but wanted to use them. Hence, Simply Natural Soaps & Sundries was born. These holiday baskets are the beginning of things for me on this venture and hopefully you will enjoy the products as much as my family does. Please join me as my knowledge of handcrafted items grows and I am able to share that knowledge with you and your families.
Much Love– Melissa Eaton
Many of our products are 97%-100% Natural. Fortunately and unfortunately this means many things. They are so much safer for you and your loved ones to use. Much gentler on you and your clothes and home. They are much better for the environment as well. However, one downside is that with them being so natural is that there are not all kinds of chemical preservatives that make them last forever. Some of the products do have a Paraben & Formaldehyde free preservative to help them last a little longer (mainly cosmetics that contain water)...some may have an all natural oil or extract that can serve as an antimicrobial/preservative for a short time...and some may not have anything. If you ever have a question or concern about a product, please let me know. Generally, preservative free things should last at least a month while products with a preservative will last longer. You can also help preserve things longer by keeping them in the fridge or even a cool area of your house. And be sure to always keep the containers tightly closed when not in use!
Another thing I would like to mention is that some products may look or feel a little different than the products you are used to buying at the grocery store or local retail shops. The soaps may be a little different in texture or when being used because many of them are detergent free---lots of soaps you purchase commercially are filled with more detergents than actual soap! This is the same as the liquid hand soap. While it is cleaning and acting as an antibacterial soap, it may not seem to be as thick or to "stick around" as long on your hands. This again is because it does not contain the detergents that most hand soap contains and is actually made of SOAP! :)
