Worst customer experience I've had in years - I'd rather deal with online retailers. Deplorable experience, very unexpected considering the reviews. To make this even worse, they replied to my review stating they were busy at the time I arrived. There was literally nobody in the store. That's why I hopped in there so quickly. I thought it would be smooth and easy. The employee looked at me with disgust, and only spoke when I literally stood there and asked, "hey, I'm looking for some new formal wear for this evening," after which he only said "yeah well we have to order everything," Either management is lying, or your employee is a liar. I don't leave nasty reviews for fun. I encourage most local businesses, and I enjoy leaving positive feedback for good service. The service that day was so bad I took it upon myself to get out my phone, look up skeffingtons and literally leave a bad review so that others would be aware. Do better business.
We used Skeffington's for to dress the groomsmen for our wedding. We were very pleased with their service and pricing. We bought our own vests for the groomsmen and we were considering buying the rest of the outfits at a department store thought it would be easier and far cheaper. For our wedding, I wanted brown pants/tuxes. This turned out to be pretty difficult to find in the shade/style I wanted. After a full day of searching all over the DSM area, we happened upon Skeffington's and they had the style we wanted and a package that fit our needs perfectly.. all at price we were happy with! The quality of the suits were great and the service was equally as impressive! I would definitely recommend Skeffington's to anyone needing to look sharp on their big day!
Absolute nightmare. Wrong prices, jacket looked like someone took a belt sander to it, and here is the shoes I got for my buddy's wedding. On top of that, the older gentleman behind the counter at the Ankeny store was extremely rude, and very hard to talk to and deal with. Edit 10/6/21: Spoke to Steffanie over the phone today who was very kind and addressed all of my concerns along with getting me the money I was overcharged righted. She was genuinely concerned about the poor experience I had and said she was going to bring it up with the owner to make sure it does not happen again or to anyone else. Also, they did indeed run another pair of shoes to the church after the originals completely fell apart so they did try. Although those fell apart when the wedding party was walking down the altar so I went through two pairs. Anyway, I will go from 1 star to 3 because even though I had a poor experience the customer service afterwards was very good.
It was such a pleasure working with Bobbie and Drew at Skeffington's to get myself and my groomsmen outfitted in our suits just months before our wedding. I was surprised at what little the big name rental companies had to offer but Skeffingtons was able to get us just the blues suits I was looking for and had them tailored to us in no time. My groomsmen we're so impressed with the style of suit and even more so with their incredible value. I have recommended them to many for great formal wear to rent or purchase! Their service is unmatched!
Very pleased with this location. Clerk was very courteous and kind. My husband has difficulty standing or moving around, she was very patient measured him efficiently and quickly so he didn't have to stand very long, then directed him to a seat while paperwork was done.
We were excited to go here to get our sons tuxedo for prom but that excitement was short lived. It started out okay but the guy helping us had the worst customer service I've ever experienced. He was rude and very condescending to my 16 year old. Practically yelling at him until I went up to him and asked him to be less aggressive. I will never go back here and couldn't in good conscience tell anyone to either. I would highly recommend some serious customer training for the staff here!
I went to get a measurement and was greatly impressed with the professionalism, courtesy, and knowledge of the staff. I wish I was getting married in Des Moines so I could use them for myself and groomsmen! I highly recommend them as they are the honest and dedicated business that I wish every business would strive to be. Thanks for the great experience!
Before visiting Skeffington's we visited one other tux shop in the area. Skeffington's in Ankeny was an easy choice over the first shop. The lady we worked with was actually interested in helping us figure out our styles and colors and made sure we were completely satisfied with our tuxes. Another perk they had was with 7 tuxes rented we were able to rent the groom tux for only $20. During the wedding week, two of us had to swap out items due to the sizes, but we were able to come back in within a day or two to try on the new sizes. I would highly recommend Skeff for your event or wedding.
We ordered our entire wedding party, went to get measured, went for our fittings before the wedding and 2 out of 6 of our party’s stuff fit. We now have to go back multiple times to try and get the right stuff. As a bride, I am a nervous wreck. The staff has all been super helpful in all of this, but this is SO much added stress the week of the wedding that just isn’t needed, and frankly, we don’t have time for this mess. Not a happy bride. Stressed to the max over this!! Wedding is Saturday, here we are Wednesday and only have 2 fitting outfits for the wedding party. So stressed!!
Giving a 5 but it's really more like 4.5/5. My only problem was no one received a call saying the suits were ready for pick up. We had to call even though they said they were going to. Otherwise the suits looked great! Everything seemed to fit well.
