OUR STORY
In the beginning ...
After having their first babies, UK born mums Kate Cotton and Louise Ferguson were looking for ways to feel better about their bodies again. Kate was enjoying a caffeine thigh cream and Louise swore by tanning as she felt it made her appear more in shape and feel better about her post baby body. It was her naked equivalent of wearing black. Trouble was Kate could not use her trusty leg cream and a tanner at the same time.
The solution? Simply put the 2 concepts together.
But that's not all Louise and Kate needed Skinny Tan to be.
Kate and Louise had spent years disappointed by the traditional orange, tans and the awful fake tan smell. They had not yet found the perfect natural looking tan they longed for. So they were determined that Skinny Tan would resolve all the issues of tanners past.
First and foremost the Skinny Tan colour had to be indistinguishable from a real tan. It had to be fool-proof and always, always streak-free without so much as a hint of orange. After 27 different formulations tested by their wide and varied group of friends, family aquaintances and social media contacts everyone agreed Skinny Tan was the best tan colour and application they had ever tried.
Also having just had children Louise was very conscious of the number of unnecessary chemicals that were used in everyday life. She wanted the 'Skinny' in Skinny tan to be represented by a kinder 'skinnier' ingredients list with as far as possible more naturally derived ingredients replacing as many of the chemicals as they could.
There was no question that Skinny Tan would have to be paraben-free, sulfate-free cruelty-free and suitable for Vegans.
And it is the passion to really make a better tanner for themselves that lead to its success. It makes sense. Because when they made their dream-tanner it turned out to be a tanner that thousands of other women had been dreaming of too.
