I have a client that was trying to get ignition interlock installed at a rural impound lot -- a tricky task given the electronics required to do the job properly and to ensure proper functioning of the device. Even though it was hours from the metro, Smart Start worked hard to get it done. I've found that Smart Start provides this type of top-notch service time and time again. And if something goes wrong, they fix it. I highly recommend them for their customer service.
This company is a Joke. I was dealing with Joe Carroll trying to get this Item installed in my car. Joe was talking to me like I was a criminal and he was so much better than I was. He asked me for my VIN number on my car. I did not have that readily available and he got upset with me. He ended up hanging up on me. I called back and spoke to the owner of the company Art Putz. I asked him what was going on. He told me to call back and talk to Karen. I left several messages and never heard back from anyone. Then I get an email from Joe Carroll telling me that I would need to find another company to use that he will not be able to help me. I called the owner back and he said that if the office said that I would have to find someone else. This place is a joke. I do not run my business this way and I do not deserve to be treated this way. Please be very aware of this company. They appear to be scam artists who keep changing their price as well.
Called on Friday to see if they got my SR22. No answer. Call on Monday to get hung up on, call rest of the day no answer. Call on Tuesday no answer for a while, get a guy who says he will check and call me back right away. Was also very rude. Call rest of the day no answers. Finally I said the hell with it. Called a different company and they are getting me in right away. Go with a different company is my suggestion. Their customer service is atrocious. Edit: tried to go with them again because I need this. Same thing multiple phone calls where you get sent in every direction and hung up on. Got a rude email from the so called president not accepting me because I reported them to BBB. If you run a company well you wont get reported to BBB. They are ran very poorly, and are very rude and bot professional. A 1 start rating is too high for them. Got with any other company over them. They do not deserve your business. Having a breathalyzer in your car is hard enough and these guys make it harder not easier. Again I suggest you go to any other company. They are a joke.
i'm not sure why my situation seems to be different from other people that have posted but i did indeed have a consistent flat rate per month. $100 install, $139&some change every month for my designated time in my case 1 year probation. $100 removal fee. one thing they didn't tell me and i had to find out from a friend was that in your last 3 months make sure to PASS every single time, WARNs will get you by too but any FAILing in the last 3 months will result in them adding on another 3 months to your ticket. maybe this was an isolated event but i still made sure i did not FAIL the last 3 months.
Ive been trying for the last two months to get a hold of someone and no one ever gets back to me and when I do get a hold of someone they redirect me and then I never get an answer. Ive had friends that have had the same exact problems.
Hashim has been an absolutely amazing representative for smart start. Excellent customer service and super friendly attitude.
Have had alot of problems with this company. My first year everything worked great. On my second year the start of problems happened. I have had 6 times where I cant start my car 2 times I had to tow it in so they could fix. There will be no power to the system so you can't blow into it to start it. GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY AND SAVE THE HEADACHE.
SMART START LIES!! They say the have a flat rate monthly service fee, they don't. They have all the service provider locations charge you a premium fee to have your device calibrated on weekends. Read the FAQ it boast FLAT RATE FEE. Nothing but false advertising and lies. I would recommend trying any other interlock company.
