What a wonderful place. A cute and small place but that doesn't keep it from producing incredible breads and pastries with tons of flavor! There is a beautiful garden attached where you can enjoy your sweet treats. Get there early though, because things sell fast!
Delicious baked goods in a unique, beautiful old house. Love the yard with the beautiful flowers and decorations. I was hoping for some gluten free options.
Smiling Pelican's Warm out-of-the oven bread and cookies this morning are going to be scrumptious! Baking activity and a ginger bread mansion raffle were captured at 9:30am and a blue reindeer was spotted in the bakery porch. How cool is this?????
Love everything they have. Great place to get awesome baked goods!
LOVE THIS PLACE. Absolutely delicious breads & muffins & quiche & cookies. Very sweet community-oriented atmosphere that is hard to describe but easy to feel. Highly recommend!
Stopped by the shop on May 12th as part of the 3 Speed Tour. This stop is always my favorite, given the combination of amazing culinary delights and charming grounds. Was initially crushed we arrived near the tail end of the group as the pies and pastries were sold-out. Unable to wait for a fresh pie to cool, I "settled" for a mango blueberry panna cotta, having no real idea what I was about to eat. OMG, what great good luck. It was fabulous!!! Only wish I had purchased a couple more. Can't wait to return again.
Wow! Our 1st visit to Smiling Pelican Bakery on a fall leaf drive this past Saturday & we will definitely be returning, It's a small quaint little bakery with a nice coveted front porch, it was raining so we weren't able to view the garden area but it looked cute & nicely groomed. The aroma of fresh baked bread/baked goods was so enticing before we even entered! The cookies are large & very well priced & homemade delicious! We didn't purchase any bread but it looked & smelled amazing. Also purchased a muffin & that too was reasonably priced, homemade & very good! We got there early & didn't have to wait to long, but by the time we left the line was already out the door & I can see why! Worth the trip.
I've been going here for 10+ years. The quiche alone is worth the trip from the cities. While you're there take some bread, cookies, or other yummy stuff home. I will say the coffee is not good. BUT! It becomes a non-factor once anything else they make registers on your taste buds.
Neat place with succulent treats, excellent artisan breads along the Great River Road
We stopped here on our way back home to Minneapolis. Their Irish potato and cheddar bread is probably the best bread we have ever had. Friendly staff, too. Don't miss out!
