I had some sorta medicine applied to my foot here to remove some warts and at last second the Doctor told me and my mom that it was going to blister my foot and now I have school and I'm in tons of pain. I'm also out of shape my back hurts if I use crutches to get around. My doctor denied me access to wheelchairs in the school so I "stay more active." I am suffering as I type this on my final day off from school. Pray for me please. This clinic sucks. I want to sue but there are only a few things holding me. I'm pretty sure my Doctor is Dr. Grout or something like that. He is an okay doctor but he should have let me know this would happen.
This is the second doctor's clinic to drop my mother as a patient in a year. Not just her one doctor, Burbank entire clinic worth that she has never met. No call. No letter. No explanation. My mother was taken to Mercy with a bladder infection. This leads to almost 3 weeks at Maranatha, where I'm initially told she may never leave. Now her insurance tells me they can't confirm dementia, or any other reason for her stay to continue. My mother has paid thousands, and thousands of dollars to Cox and Mercy. She's been left unshowered, allowed to get leg ulcers, etc. She has qualified for home health for 4 years. No one ever shows up. So what did my mother pay for?! I am disgusted.
My first appointment at this office was on 11/11/22. During my initial appointment I was given samples of a medication and then written a prescription for the medication. The following week I found out the prescription was written to the incorrect location so I had the office rewrite the prescription. A week later I received a notice from insurance that a prior authorization would be required. Usually these can be completed within 2-4 days at the latest. I am writing this review 1/04/23 and it has been nearly 2 months. The prior authorization that I requested 3 times via the portal, 3 times via phone call, and 2 times via voicemail has still not been sent to insurance. In the past two weeks I have made several additional phone calls. During each of these phone calls I was told to expect a follow up call with more information. I have not received a single follow up call with more information. The office has a very flippant approach to patient health which is unfortunate.
I’ve been using this OB since 2016, but it has progressively gotten worse. Several phone calls and even a drop by visit was ignored by staff. I was told multiple times someone would call or email me back after looking over important results. It’s been almost 2 months of silence. Unfortunately health is not something that should be pushed off and this is exactly what this office is doing.
It’s a great place to take your kids if you don’t want them to feel heard or if you need their concerns dismissed! Fun fact, they don’t really care what they prescribe you as long as you just shut up about symptoms! I don’t have ptsd so naturally, put me on a ptsd med! When that doesn’t work try an antihistamine for three years! It’s very safe and you will totally feel valued! Would you like to learn not to trust your doctor at face value and feel the need to get a second opinion for every little thing because when you do even just a little research you realize they barely know what they’re talking about? Want to be belittled for pursuing diagnosis’ because your current treatment isn’t really working and it feels like they’re making excuses because you’re “too fat” “just swollen” or “depressed, but chronically” ? Hopefully you don’t like when doctors have real comprehension skills because they will have your file open in front of you and still not even remember your name! Of course I’m not the 4 year old, I’m 20! Unless you think she’s already this depressed??? Oh well then let’s give her a couple of medications and call it good. At least the nurses are nice :
The elevators are absolutely amazing I like the old Dover elevators in the main lobby they run beautiful and I’m glad they are still original
I wish I could give them a grade. I have not even seen them but my experience so far is not good. Here's why - I had an appointment set up with Dr. Manuel and on the morning of my appointment, I was involved in a car accident. I called their office immediately to let them know the problem. I even called the next day to try to make another appointment. I explained that I was low on my prescriptions both very crucial to my health and still unable to make an appointment. Since then, I received a letter from their office a form letter that they must not have even read! that stated they were not going to care for me since I missed my appointment and "failed to call to cancel or notify them." I DID notify them. I am still waiting for the office manager to return my call. Meanwhile, I am out of important, life-sustaining medications. I will have to incur an emergency room bill in order to get them, thanks to their lack of communication within their office.
If I could give this office 0 stars, I would. Reception desk has no idea what's going on, ever. They told me there were no patients in the back at the time and I should be able to go back and see the doctor right away. The doctor was an hour late to my appointment after they said that. 5 minutes after the doctor walked in, I had to leave so I wasn't late for work. You know, because some people have lives to attend to. Dr. Bendt's nurse is the most hateful woman I've been in professional contact with. Neither the doctor or nurse should be working with people. Dr. Bendt showed zero compassion or helpfulness. I teared up in the exam room because I was so frustrated at having to leave after the the long wait times to get a new patient appointment. I said I'd been having a hard time lately, emotionally. Then she became very judgmental. I would never recommend this office or return here, EVER.
Incorrectly coded the services Refused to correct their error I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bendt on the afternoon of 11/7/2018. When I initially scheduled the appointment on the phone I requested a "well man check-up." This is a standard annual appointment that is covered in full by my insurance provider. When I arrived for the appointment I again followed up with the staff at the front desk to ensure that it was indeed a well man checkup. Additionally, I told the physician, Dr. Bendt that this appointment was for a well man checkup. It came as a surprise to me about a month later when I received a bill for this service. I spoke on a conference call with both my insurance provider and the Mercy customer service. I was pleased when they said that they would simply file a corrected claim and get the issue resolved. I was assured that no further action was required on my end. About a month following that discussion the same situation occurred. Again, I spoke on the phone for an hour with my insurance provider and Mercy customer service. For a second time, they assured me that the services rendered would be covered by my insurance and I would not be required to take further action. Two months pass and I am feeling relieved that the issue had been resolved. It was at this point that Mercy assigned my balance to a debt collection agency. You can imagine my frustration after having been assured twice by Mercy personnel that this issue was resolved. When I called Mercy clinic for the third time I was told that the services provided were not a well man checkup at all, and actually something totally different. I felt incredibly cheated at this point. At three levels within the communication chain, when I scheduled the appointment, when I checked in, and when I spoke with Dr. Bendt I told each of them that I was there for a "well man check-up." Mercy clinic either out of ignorance or fraud refused to provide me with the services that I requested. I would have been pleased if they had admitted their mistake, filled a corrected claim, and resolved the balance with my insurance provider. Instead, they refused to make any effort to resolve this issue. I strongly discourage scheduling an appointment at the Smith Glynn Callaway Mercy clinic.
My daughter and I see Dr Jose Manuel and he is amazing. He and his staff always greet us with a smile even when we don't feel like returning the favor. He tells us what we need to hear even when we don't like it, but helps us get things done like seeing specialists etc. I'm so glad we've changed our care and put it in his hands. I recommend all Mercy staff.
