Was shocked at the robbery the cemeteries in this city try to commit with their prices for headstones well, for everything really, but I remembered passing this Smith Monument place for years on my way to work. So when my mother passed last year, I decided to stop by and check them out. I have been dealing with Gabe, and their pricing was HALF what the cemetery wanted and Gabe's customer service has been excellent since day one. The headstone is now in place and the quality of the workmanship is very very good. Talk to Gabe, I recommend Smith Monument and I will refer friends and family when I can.
the owner and the staff were amazing . I had to cut a stone . did it in one day and charge only $ 20.
STAY AWAY! They take your money, tell you What you want to hear but don’t do nothing, waiting game , different answers everyday, rude on phone, they say open at 9am go there for no one to be there till almost 10am, lazy people, go anywhere else but here don’t make your mistake and do what I did.
This company's services are first rate. I would guess most of the people entering Smith Monument Company are looking for something to memorialize a loved one they have lost, and Smith does not disappoint. The staff is sensitive and courteous and helpful. Their range of product is broad and the samples you will see show great skill in their execution. The pricing is competitive and the staff is creative around working with budgets to find a solution that works for the client. I give them five stars!
Smith Monuments was exceptional in their service- most notably Gabe. She was polite, sincere, patient & most professional. The passing of my beloved Mother was the most difficult thing that has happened in my life & the process very hard to navigate. Gabe made my experience more manageable to handle & cope.
Staff at Smith Monuments are very accommodating, attentive and courteous to your needs. Respectful and well-trained. The fabrication staff are very skilled and sure you that the monument will come out the way you wanted to.
Many kind thanks to Gabe and Smith Monument Company. My family and I received fabulous service with beautiful results of my parents' monument Gabe provided product information, made design and lettering suggestions, and communicated on-going with us throughout and up until monument installation. I have referred family and friends to Gabe.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE THIEVING SCAMERS!! I had a stone done a long time ago in 1993 for my dad, everything went smoothly, then when my mother passed away in 2008 I went back to them in order to get my mothers death date etched into the stone that they made and AGREED TO DO when my mother passes.. Well that didn't happen and to this date my mother dosen't have her death date on the stone because the person that agreed to do this at the time of purchase of the stone no longer worked there and they are NOT HONOURING his any of his agreements? and that it is going to cost me $600 extra to have my mothers death date etched into the stone at the cemetery, this is what was told to me by the owner of Smith Monuments on Weston Rd... So they ripped me off and robbed me!... They took my money and didn't finish the job and what is worst is that they dont care about their customers in their difficult times of family death..This is an honorable company... NO!. Unfortunately for others I just recently found out that I can do reviews through Google.
I went to Smith monument because my son of only 19 years was murdered last year and his dad and I were looking for a headstone. I noticed the place because it was beside a uhaul that I had helped my best friend since high school get to, to complete her move. The employee that met us was an older gentleman he was brash and crass but I am used to people like him so I took it in stride. I returned with my sons dad and while he was somewhat inappropriate in his approach he was not intolerably so, at least not to me. His name was Stephan and at time he could come off as compassion and kind. I have always loved poetry and already had one ready for the occasion. It was the chorus from "love you forever" by Robert Munsch. I showed Stephan the poem online so he could copy it verbatim because I am well aware of transcription errors. He wrote it down and we explained several times that we would hold a memorial for my "baby" on June the 9th the anniversary of his death and asked that it be delivered the because I wanted to "unveil" it. He explained that they could not deliver on Sunday and even called someone who appeared to be the owner to explain the same. They instead stated that they can deliver the week of the third and assured as they would deliver as close to the end of the week as Possible. We went work on a mock up closer to the date were he called there artist, himself artistically tattooed, and agreed on a design and that I would supply the symbol of my sons wrestling club which I wanted displayed and signed the draft. As we received the emailed version his dad asked for a cross to be added, and then a second to balance it out. I never again discussed the date of delivery or the poem as I considered them done deals, as they had both been clearly defined and noted during the February 21st meeting. The week of June 3rd i called them, as they had not yet contacted me about the delivery date. Stephan stated that the stone would be etched by Friday the 7th. I asked about delivery by the 9th and he explained as if he was saying for the first time that they did not deliver on Sunday's. I realed that I knew this as he had made that clear back in February when he agreed to get it there the week of. 10 minutes later I am still yelling into the phone infuriated that he had screwed up the delivery which he continued to stare over and over again we had not agreed to. He checked the final version I had signed and stated there was nothing there to that affect, to which I replied: i don't care what is on that piece up paper you wrote it down and you need to go find it because I couldn't tell you where you wrote it or where you put it". He told me that I don't need to get angry to which I replied that if one were to get angry this is e exactly the thing one would get angry about. He promised to check his records finally, and said he would call back in half an hour. One bleeping hour later he comes back and tells me that I was right, he did write down delivery not before June 3rd, which to him was indeed tantamount to delivery week of June 3rd. I scolded him that he should have wrote it more clearly If he couldn't understand his own notation and he apologized, finally, and asked me to forgive him. He also stated that the etcher would be I Wednesday instead to do the stone. I the asked him about getting it on time to which he replied there truck was in the shop. I then proceeded to make suggestions as to how he could still honour the delivery as the wind was out of my sails and I just wanted a solution. He said:"that's not my department". I called my girlfriend as I was emotionally drained and she called them back. She spoke to the manager and she said that she had followed one of my suggestions and called the shop to find out If they could rush the truck. Fast forward to Wednesday they have arranged for someone else to deliver it and promised to call when the stone has been picked up. I bolt to Toronto from a hour and half away to wait for there call as promised and when we did not hear from them by three we called.
Very caring and compassionate staff
