So quaint, so much character! We blocked rooms for a private family weekend event and enjoyed the delicious catering, historical details, and hospitality of the staff! Definitely recommend! The food was delicious, especially the prime rib. The outdoor patio area was perfect for sitting and enjoying a summer evening and location central to walk and enjoy the historic downtown attractions.
Outstanding meal for Mother's Day. Everyone in our party of five enjoyed their dish. The menu options were varied, local and most importantly -delicious! Homemade flavors stole the show. The atmosphere was tasteful, clean and calming. Service was equally good. I spent years in front and back of house restaurant work and was very pleased from start to finish. Will definitely return.
Owner was extremely rude ! On my check out it was like I was bothering him very poor customer service needs to re evaluate his skills w his customers. The garbage was left outside in hallway for two days never picked up what hotel does this ? The shower in room the drain was all backed up and his response was we won't be able to get a plumber until tomorrow the day we checked out. I don't not recommend this inn at all very disappointed also the best part was I was charged more on my CC then I was quoted on Expedia where I originally booked this stay ..
We celebrated my Wife’s birthday there last night 9/7/23. Every bit of everything was the worst experience we have had eating out in a long time. Everything from start finish was just BAD. Then when we got home I got food poisoning and vomited the entire meal. I was so sick I thought I was going to die. Never again!!!!!! $222 for a putrid meal!!!!!!!!!!! That made me sick. Will call health dept today when they open. Disgusted, Robert Erlich
Really glad we chose The Smithfield Inn. We love the local history and we learned a LOT from Bill on the history of the Inn and the area. For such a historic building it's been taken care of very well. Had dinner the first night and both our meals were a 10 of 10. We'll be back. Well done Bill and team! Rooms: Sykes Suite was excellent. Nearby activities: Weekly Sat market is just across the street, with many local businesses steps away on Main St. Safety: Never felt any safety issues. Walkability: Right on Main Street! Food & drinks: Dinner was EXCELLENT. Kudos to the chef and team we had Salmon and Stuffed Flounder dishes.
The food was great and service was exceptional! The filet steak was cooked to perfection. Best tasting steak I've had in a long time. She crab soup was good. From the sweet tea to the dinner salad, everything was great.Service: 5/5

My wife and I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary at this spectacular inn. We could not have enjoyed it more. The property is in pristine condition as it has recently been renovated. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have slept on in years! Breakfast is included from the café just down the street. They have an on-sight restaurant where we had our anniversary dinner. The service was attentive and professional. She was most helpful describing the menu items noting her favorites after getting an idea of what we enjoyed. We will be going back but more importantly, will be telling all of our friends about this hidden gem!
Attended the dinner theatre on the patio. A murder mystery was solved. Enjoyed our dinner and show immensely!Hotel highlightsQuiet
