This is an absolutely amazing museum which will leave you inspired. Entry is free but parking costs $15 per car. Honestly, I felt the experience made up for the parking fee so it should not deter you. You can see so many planes, helicopters, and the famous Space Shuttle Discovery. I recommend taking one of the free tours which was very informative. I spent 2-3 hours, but there's a whole day's worth of activities to do. The observation tower is a must see as it gives a good view of planes landing at Dulles International Airport. I highly recommend this museum!!
I can't say enough about this air and space museum. My wife & I enjoyed this museum very much. If you are interested in early flight through to the Discovery shuttle this is the place for you. We spent 1 1/2 days here. The first day we walked around and took lots of pictures. The second day we walked around and took a free tour, which was very informative. We suggest you take the tour at some time during your visit. And make sure you go up into the tower and watch planes arrive and take off from Washington Dulles airport. You can also listen to the Washington Dulles control tower as planes arrive and takeoff. Great place to visit for flight enthusiasts from 9-90.
This museum is truly remarkable, offering an expansive space that left a lasting impression on me. It stands as the epitome of excellence for those with a passion for space exploration and aviation. The diverse collection of aircraft, spacecraft, and associated artifacts is nothing short of awe-inspiring. You could easily lose yourself in this place for an entire day, and the icing on the cake is that it's completely free!
Quite an amazing place to go if you enjoy space exploration and aerial museums! Seeing all of the various spacecraft and planes was awesome! The Discovery Space Shuttle was the highlight of my visit, one of my friends had worked on the spacecraft so it was cool to see it up close. Another cool thing is that they had a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, but I forgot to take a photo of that. I highly recommend visiting.
The BEST airplane hanger and space museum I've ever visited! Our boys loved it! Very educational and large, not like the one in downtown and worth the drive! Pack a picnic lunch! They have tables and chairs inside!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
One of the best places to view important aircraft and spacecraft around. There are lots of military aircraft and a good deal of spacecraft and related items. There are some very important treasures on display, with the WWII bomber Enola Gay, the space shuttle Discovery, an SR-71 Blackbird, and the X-1 Chuck Yeager breaking the "sounds barrier" being highlights for me. The aircraft and spacecraft are uniquely displayed on the floor and hanging just below catwalks in a way that they are so close you can almost touch them. This is an amazing place!
Very well done. There are cat walks around the whole building that give you a great view of everything quickly, but you can also go down on the floor to get up and close to those have the most interest in seeing. The free observation tower of airport operations is also very cool. I was not happy with one of the vendors running the paid stuff approaching me to drum up business.
Visit. This. Place. Stop reading about places and check this one out. 1/2 aero space museums in the area and it is incredible. Each aircraft looks so cool and has a plaque with historical info about them. The have an SR- 71 Blackbird and a Concorde and a NASA space rocket, worth checking out, its free but you have to pay $15 to park, worth it.
If you or a loved one are an aviation geek, this is THE place to go. So many historic aircraft that I couldn’t believe my eyes. You can truly find hours of information here. I cannot recommend this FREE museum enough. Rockets, a Space Shuttle, the Enola Gay, an SR-71, and so many famous ultralight and kit planes. I also recommend visiting the rest of the Air and Space Museum on the National Mall. Although at the time of writing, nearly half of it is closed for renovations, I still was able to spend an entire day there and I mainly focused on just two exhibits.
One of the most impressive and spacious museums I have ever been to! Really the pinnacle of museums if you are into space exploration and aviation. The array of places, spaceships and related objects to both are amazing. You could spend all day here and the best part is that it’s free! Parking however is not and costs $15.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
