Smithville City Hall

I was sick with Covid for three weeks. During that time I was a few days behind on the water bill. They shut off our water without speaking to us, giving a warning, anything. When I called city hall I asked if they were okay shutting off peoples water who couldn’t work due to Covid they said Yes. They also Lied saying they spoke to us and then right away admitted they don’t call but it’s an automated system. Can’t trust city hall or the water company. And I used to work for the PD!

I was simply changing the Water & Sewer billing name to mine. They charge a $100.00 deposit! That was kinda steep for a disabled person, and there was no discount available. Then, when I got there, they charged me another $2.00 for using my debit card! I got my first bill, and even though I was rarely even there, they claimed that I used 100 gallons and charged me more than $27.00. My sewer rates had always been a fraction of the water bill, but not here! The sewer rates are higher than the water rates. What a racket!

Worst sewer rates in the northland for non-annexed residents. And when you make any kind of comment on their Facebook page proving something they posted is wrong, they delete your comment and ban you from posting on their page again. Whoever their social media employee is needs to be fired.

Very rude and very unwilling to help. They act like your asking them for a million bucks when all I was looking for was alil direction
