We were driving through Kansas and I’m so glad our meal time hit near Ottawa so we could try our Smoked Creations. 10/10 - would highly recommend. The restaurant was busy since it was a Sunday afternoon, but they let us sit at the bar so we didn’t have to wait. The bartender/server, Kirsten, was incredibly helpful and attentive. She gave us great recommendations. Now to the good stuff - food! I had the pulled chicken tacos. They were light and delicious. It was more than enough for one person and I’m looking forward to round 2 with my leftovers tomorrow! My husband had the smoked wings with Buffalo sauce. And, a big plus for him, they brought 3 blue cheese dipping sauces! He liked the wings so much that he ordered a dozen to go to enjoy later. I was equally impressed with the food prices as I was with the taste. We don’t make it to Ottawa often, but we’ll definitely stop at Smoked Creations every chance we get! Vegetarian options: It’s a bbq place, so don’t expect a ton of vegetarian options. As a former vegetarian, I could have easily put together a meal with the baked potato, salad and veggie options. Wheelchair accessibility: The ramp in had a very low grade and would have been helpful for those in a wheelchair.
Excellent local cuisine. From the minute you park your vehicle the aroma of delicious Bbq fills the air. The restaurant is welcoming and we found it a comfortable environment to have the children. The menu offered a great variety of dishes we wanted to try and some very unique combinations. Our server was welcoming and attentive. The portions are big and the food out of this world with flavor. We enjoyed our experience and found it great value for money and highly recommended especially if you are traveling and looking for a great experience.
Wow. Heard good things about this place, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Great service, clean and comfortable atmosphere, and some bomb diggity eats. Started out with some comfort food; the Cajun cheesy fries were fantastic. Could be a meal all by itself. The Longhorn was my sandwich of choice. Tender brisket, crunchy onion rings, smoked cheesy goodness, all on a sturdy bun to hold it all together. Served with a side of baked potato salad that would impress my Grandma. The sauce was great too. I didn't get a chance to try them all, because i fell in love with the chipotle right off the bat. Looking forward to coming back.
Stopped here on our way back from Austin, Tx to MN. We were looking for some good, small town KS BBQ and the reviews are what made us choose this place after driving for over 10 hours. So glad we did! The food was great, my husband enjoyed the brisket and jalapeño sauce, I enjoyed the super tender turkey. Our server was kind and helpful, and when I left my purse on the chair out of sheer exhation, they went above and beyond trying to locate me, knowing we were traveling. My husband tried to tip them for their trouble and they wouldn't accept any. Support these good, honest, hardworking people!
I really enjoyed this place. Went on a Friday and had burnt ends, they were absolutely amazing. I had the Cajun fries as a side and they were delicious as well. The restaurant was extremely busy but they still provided the large party I was with with excellent service. Moist chicken and turkey, not-too-sweet slaw, excellent baked potato salad, flavorful fried pickles, all for a decent price. Add in fast and friendly staff and you have a great dining experience!
WOW! We stopped in while traveling from Wichita, we saw it had good reviews, and thought we’d give it a try - we were NOT disappointed!!! The special tonight was smoked chicken which I tried. I’ve had my share of smoked chicken, and that was some of the best I’ve had anywhere. We also tried the brisket and jalapeño sausage, both of which were excellent! The mashed potatoes and gravy were also very good, and the green beans were outstanding - very flavorful and peppery. The service was very good as well. I’ll definitely be stopping in again when I pass by this way!
We had high expectations because of the great reviews, but the food was unfortunately disappointing: Brisket was dry, fries were cold, claw slaw tasted like refrigerator. The waitress and atmosphere were nice though:
A friend recommended to go here to get something to eat. It waitress was very nice and offered suggestions of different menu items since I had never been here before. Ended up getting a slab of ribs, Cajun fries, fried pickles, and a salad. Portions of food are huge! Way more than I expected and the prices are great for what you get. If I'm ever in Kansas again I would definitely visit again and highly recommend.
We decided to stop by after the Veterans Day parade. My husband remembered this place from one of his Motorcycle group rides. He got the BBQ burrito fried. Which was delicious and filling. I got the baked potato with pulled pork but wished there was more meat. The mustard sauce was good on the potato. I gave it 5 stars because it was good food and Marie was very busy because of parade but friendly and nice.
