Nice campground. Owner seemed very nice. So many fun things for kids to do and experience. Even the small things like providing a hose for the dump station exceed expectations and was super accommodating. Jumping pillow was a huge hit with our kids. However, we agreed we would never go back. Unfortunately, its geared towards permanents and the hustle and bustle of it. Golf carts everywhere with no regard for speed. I told my 4yr old son by Saturday afternoon, he wasn't to ride his bike anymore. even cars would be going 25...30mph. that's insane in a campground with kids!! Golf carts blaring music and Chicago freeway style traffic sums it up. great place for kids, while at the same time, not a great place for kids. maybe when they are teenagers we will be back.
Once again had a Great time. We all enjoyed the trick or treating event..kids and adults. Everyone really does a super job decorating and passing out goodies. We loved the haunted forest. Everyone did a great job at scaring us. Super weekend.
The fact that there wasn't anyone in the office really bothered me. They posted hours but no one was there. If you called someone gets be ack to in you - but you need service or wifi to do that. The campground was good. The showers were a joke - pay with quarters for hot water? Grounds are well maintained. I saw the Family House that was amazing.
This was the first time going to Smokey Hollow and we had a blast! We went during Labor Day weekend and they had TONS of events throughout the day/weekend. Those events really saved the weekend because our son broke his arm a week before we got there, so he wasn't able to do any of the water activities. The park was clean, the staff were friendly, and the other guests were really nice. It was like a giant block party all weekend long! We plan to come back again next year so we can hopefully try out the water activities.
Great campground. Tons of fun kids activities. Nice people. Pretty clean but it was very busy so I assume they spend weekdays cleaning up. No pool, but the pond was good for the kids. Peyton did a great job! He is a trooper when it comes to the kids. We will return.
This was our second season at Smokey Hollow and my 3 granddaughters absolutely love it! The staff is always very nice, there is plenty for kids to do and the pond holds the most exciting fun for all. A BIG thank you to Mitch…hopefully he remembers helping Yurt2. Will be back next year!!
My wife and I love going to Smokey Hollow campground. Very clean, well organized and maintained. Swimming pond is big and the inflatables are in very good condition and the beach is very nice. Nice sized camp sites that fit small and large campers and tent spots also. Prices are good and the food and drinks are tasty. Very friendly place to take your family to for the weekend of for the week.
We’ve owned a seasonal campsite for 6 years here and it’s a great way to take a break from life whenever we want! Fun for the kids, weekly activities, enough stuff for the adults too.
Everything was great for the Kids. I have only a couple suggestions for newbie's: Things I wasn't aware of when I booked our vacation: 1- if you stay in the lodge house, you have to bring everything,. There are no sheets, pillows, blankets, dishes, utensils, bathroom shampoo or soap samples. It's not a hotel or Bed and Breakfast. 2- the light on the porch is out, and the fan on the porch doesn't work. 3- the sliding door was really hard to open and close due to all the dirt and sand in it. 4- we stayed during the week and throughout the weekend and the kids wished the shopping cart rides happened all week and not just one day. 5-Golf carts are extremely expensive!!!!
This camp ground doesn't maintain their water obstacle course my 7 yr old almost drowned when she slipped in between 2 sections. The safety mats weren't on. It was told we could leave, it's non refundable. Our camp site was all rock hard to pitch a tent. There was garbage everywhere. We almost got ran over by teens on quad bikes several times. They don't care iabout anyone unless your a video or seasonal. It nothing but a money pit. We did leave early and they can keep my money will never go back or recommend this place to anyone
