SMU's Perkins School of Theology Houston-Galveston extension program allows students to begin their graduate theological education while continuing to work and care for family in the Houston metro area.
Perkins School of Theology meets you where you are both spiritually and geographically. Our flexible extension program creates a smoother transition for you and your family, and enables most students to attend seminary while still employed full or part-time.
Through Perkins, Southern Methodist University offers students in Houston, Galveston, and surrounding areas an opportunity to begin study toward three different Master's degrees in theology. Those preparing for ordained leadership in the church generally seek the Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or Master of Arts in Ministry (M.A.M.) degrees, while those called to the study of theological disciplines traditionally seek the Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) degree.
The primary mission of Perkins School of Theology, as a community devoted to theological study and teaching in the service of the church of Jesus Christ, is to prepare women and men for faithful leadership in Christian ministry.
