Snow Farm Summer: The New England Craft Program for High School Students offers studio craft workshops in glass, metal, textiles, clay, wood, and digital media. www.snowfarm.org
Nearly 30 years ago, Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program opened its doors to high school students as one of the only places where young people could be taken seriously as artists. Every summer since, we have provided creative young people with the rare opportunity to study and work with professional artists in a supportive and engaging environment. We offer studios in ceramics, glassblowing, flameworking, weaving, textile surface design, metalsmithing/jewelry, drawing/painting, welding, woodworking, digital photography, and digital video.
Our intensive, full immersion curriculum is based on small class size and one-on-one instruction. Participants have the chance to dive completely into their work with no distractions and no limits. Six hours of daily instruction and additional "open studio" time allows our highly motivated students to spend 9 - 10 hours a day creating.
“Snow Farm was the best experience of my life. It made me a better person.”
For students considering art school or a career in the arts, our summer session is an excellent way to expand and develop a portfolio. Recent alumni have gone on to study at RISD, Alfred University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, MIT, and many other top level art programs. Many of our past alumni are now established artists in their field, and some have even returned to teach in our program.
“I loved the students, the teachers, the art, and the location. Lots of studio time and lots of help when needed.”
