Snowbird Mountain Lodge

Description

Snowbird Mountain Lodge is tucked deep into the Nantahala National Forest in Robbinsville, NC. A little less than 2 hours outside of Asheville, Snowbird Mountain Lodge sits on a ridge that faces the stunning Snowbird Mountain Range. It is truly a magnificent place to escape into nature in one of the most pristine areas of Western North Carolina.

A rustic yet elegant lodge rich in history, Snowbird was constructed of large chestnut timber beams wood harvested on-site in 1938. Wonderful amenities including iPads, library, tennis, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, mountain bikes, fly rods, and more are included in guest’s stays.

Snowbird’s Fireside Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a fine beverage and unwind. Guests can choose from a selection of handcrafted beers, ranging from local brews to some of the best in the world. In addition, they boast the finest spirits to be found in all of Western North Carolina, as well as a wine cellar with over 500 labels.

Nearby attractions include the Cherohala Skyway, Lake Santeetlah, popular sites for camping, fishing, and hiking, and Joyce Kilmer National Forest, which boast magnificent virgin and old- growth forests. Mercifully preserved in spite of the over logging experienced throughout Western North Carolina, Joyce Kilmer harbors ancient trees that grow to a height of more than 150 feet and a girth of 20 feet.

The lodge has a full calendar of events that are included with guest stays – hiking, music classes, art, writing and photography, and night walking with synchronous fireflies.

All lodging rates include three daily meals prepared by our executive chef: a full breakfast, a gourmet picnic packed to go for daily adventures, and a four-course dinner from a daily changing menu.

BBQ and Bluegrass evening was wonderful. Snowbird puts on a great spread and the environment is just fabulous. Great views of the mountains, amazing and friendly staff. So great to be able to get back there after the pandemic. Thanks for having us !!!
We were concerned that the property had been sold after we had made reservations, but those concerns were not at all warranted. Everything was fantastic, and we will be eagerly continuing our loyalty to such a wonderful place and people.Rooms: 5/5
We only visited for dinner and drinks, but the food, drinks, service, and views were all spectacular. Higher end food and definitely worth the price.Service: 5/5
Our stay was amazing! We stayed in Chestnut Lodge the better out of the three options from what I heard. It was very clean, had a cozy fireplace, hot tub, bath, shower, and sauna. The views were breathtaking not only from the rooms but from just about everywhere on the property. There’s not too much to do aside from hiking so if it’s predicted to be raining and cold outside make sure to bring something to occupy your time. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. I’d highly recommend Snowbird if you’re wanting a relaxing getaway in the mountains. We hope to be back!
This is a true mountain oasis. Good for the soul. The whole staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful. The views, the food, and, the property are spectacular. We will definitely be going back.Rooms: 5/5
I was part of a group of four staying at a nearby cabin rental. We had dinner here on a night they had live music and a BBQ buffet. Some local bluegrass musicians played for a long set after the meal - outside on the porch. It was fantastic to listen to some great music and look at the absolutely amazing view from this old 1940's lodge. Definitely a unique experience to remember and very romantic... especially for a special occasion. The service was excellent and friendly. We had specialty drinks from their bar that were really good! There was trouble making a drink choice...all the drinks sounded delicious. We chose a bourbon drink called a Lumberjack. Yummy. As a bonus, they had several electric car chargers for Tesla and others.
An impressive view with indoor and outdoor activities, several walking trails, and a variety of indoor and outdoor gathering spaces with fireplaces or fire pits. The food was very good and the service was exceptional.Rooms: 5/5
A bit remote but that adds to the attraction. Food was very good and the ambiance excellent.Rooms: 4/5
Lovely place to get away. The staff was amazingly friendly and their service was great. The rooms were fine. I'm spoiled and wanted nicer bedding, but the hot tub was great and the fireplace in the room was so nice. Rooms: The room was not large, but big enough for a king bed and 2 chairs. Fireplace on a remote in the room. 2 person hot tub on the deck. Towels were good, sheets could've been nicer felt thin Walkability: Plenty of walking on the property. Sunrise and sunset points were very pretty. Food & drinks: The dinners were great. 4 course meals. Breakfast was very good. Something for everyone. Lunch was lunch. Bagged sandwiches, but it was really nice that they package them to go and even lend you a back pack if you are leaving for the day.
Hidden gem in the mountains! Every detail is thoughtfully taken care of. Tranquil setting with trails on property, easy to hard. The views are amazing. Meals are included and do not disappoint, great food. The staff is attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to go back!Rooms: 5/5
