Hiked here in all seasons with the kids and dog. Trails are mainly flat. I've even seen bike tracks. Good for snowshoeing and cross country skiing.
A fantastic set of beginner to light-intermediate hiking trails in the heart of the Township of Minden Hills. A series of well groomed trails allow for year round access. Markers are placed prominently and regularly on trees so that you can follow the trail even with snow cover. Lookout points and other points of interest allow for breaks from hiking. A must visit for any hiker.
The trail has potential to be really nice but it hasn't been maintained. Tons of trees are knocked over blocking the path and if you do the longer trail the path gets extremely narrow with sharp grass and prickly bushes on both sides. Would probably be better in the fall.
Beautiful place with a variety of terrain and nature interests. After a rain it can be quite boggy on later half of the loop. Otherwise trail is well maintained and marked well.
Love this place. Easy trail, even with a 4 year old. Great anytime of year, even snowshoeing. Can get wet and mucky in certain areas. Don't forget the bug spray.
I'm sure it's a lovely place. Lots of signage - even one set of posts clearly designed for another sign but without a sign! Viewing platform was lovely, but we missed the turn for the Beaver Dam Trail and didn't realize it until we were at the next sign, ironically enough. There were a lot of mosquitoes chasing us and my kids noped it out of there. Would like to explore further - looks like a fun little place.
The trails are mostly flat but there are a lot of protruding roots. Two portapotties are about 250m from the parking lot where the trail is wide and flat. There are no picnic tables but the bench on the viewing platform seats two. Some of the bridges have rotten treads and exposed nails so be careful on them. There are overhanging brambles beside the trail so don't wear shorts in the late summer like me. Mosquitoes were minimal during my visit. This is a beautiful park with lovely views of wetlands. The forest flora is abundant and there were no invasive plants which is wonderful and rare these days. I highly recommend this park!
We walked about 1/2 of this trail. Road in from hwy was like an average cottage road rocks, deep puddles - best suited for 4x4 and AWD vehicles. Signage for trail was good. Best to wear long pants and bring bug spray as trail becomes narrower and brush gets thicker as you progress. We hoped to make it to the Lincoln but a downed tree blocked the trail. Too bad.
Beautiful spot to walk with the family & doggies. Over 8 kms in trails !
Excellent for hiking/snowshoeing - Snowdon Park is a 450 acre wetland and forest preserve. Beautiful walking trails are accessible year round. There are two loops - one is about 45 minutes Brenda Chambers Trail and the other is about 2.5 hours Ross Rigney Trail. It is flat terrain that goes though forest and along wetland areas. There is a beaver dam, marsh, fen and swamp - and opportunity to see a variety of wildlife and their tracks. There is a sign by the road and then an unpaved drive of about 1/2km to a parking lot. At the parking and trail-head, there is an info kiosk with map and brochures to the self-guided trails. You can just return your brochure to this kiosk at the end of your hike. I'd avoid Snowdon Park during wet and buggy seasons - lovely in the fall and wonderful to snowshoe in the winter. Wear appropriate foot gear, and bring a snack and some water.
