Student National Pharmaceutical Association MCPHS-Boston
As you may or may not be aware the world of pharmacy has a shrinking job market and residencies as well as job opportunities are becoming more and more selective. Due to such pressures a need arises to expand our priorities beyond just a formal education. By involving ourselves more in our prospective profession, even at the student level, we as student-pharmacists can build our skill set as well as our value. This email is about reinstating the SNPhA chapter at our school. SNPhA is a nationally recognized organization that is about three simple (yet complex) ideas:
To provide educational service and support to pharmacy students concerned about the profession of pharmacy
To expand knowledge of willing participants on important updates on healthcare issues and legislature
To better represent the minority in the field of health care, specifically pharmacy via advocacy and promoting disease initiatives
**********************PURPOSE**********************
SNPhA is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about the profession of pharmacy, healthcare issues, and the poor minority representation in these areas. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate and execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, educational, and social environment of minority communities.
**********************OBJECTIVES**********************
· To offer student members the opportunity to develop leadership and professional
skills.
· To educate students about, and promote active participation in national healthcare issues.
· To develop the role of the minority health professional as vital members of the healthcare team.
· To develop within communities, a positive image of minority health professionals.
· To educate communities on better health practices and to increase their awareness and understanding of diseases.
