My identity was stolen, and I believe SoFi was right in the middle of it. 2 months after my loan closed I started getting e-mails from someone asking for additional documentation, They had documents from my SoFi refinance that he was sending to look like he was from the bank. His e-mails all were aliases to look like they came from SoFi. I have had to button down everything, put red flags on all my files, freeze credit, add insurance to my identity. Contacting SoFi about this is an endless circle of robot operators and people who can't help. I would highly recommend finding a different bank to work with.....not worth it!
I called in to change my payment due date from the 5th to the 24th. Easy enough right? The customer service rep changed the due date. And then told me to turn off auto pay for my next payment due on the 5th. And then to turn it back on after passing the 5th. It would then come out on the 24th. So thats what i did. The 5th passes. I go to turn auto pay back on to see that my account is considered delinquent. And that i could not turn auto pay back on. So i call customer service. HERE is where things go real south. If your account is considered delinquent you get sent straight to collections no matter what. I've never been treated so badly. I explained to them what happened. They did not care. They cared about 1 thing. That was to get my payment... I asked to talk to a manager, or customer service. Or quite frankly ANYONE except for collections. And i was refused. They clearly did not care about me. They just wanted a payment and its painfully obvious they have been trained to aggresivly persue a payment no matter what. So I made my supposed delinquent payment. and THEN asked to speak with another department. They told me it could take up to 5 days for the payment to go through. And until then i would be redirected to collections and could not talk to anyone else. That is actually insane.... I would recommend staying far away from this company. When i told the collections agent that i was not satisfied. They began their end of call speil. "Thanks for calling Sofi and have a nice day etc..." They were the most aggresivly rude people i have ever spoken with. I am beyond disappointed.
Terrible bank that performs fraudulent business practices. If your identity is stolen they will let the criminal buy as much as they want with your credit and they will hold you liable because their $0 fraud liability guarantee is fake! This con artist business should be ashamed of themselves.
1 star is too generous. I had my identity stolen and a fraudulent account was opened with SoFi. SoFi has been belligerent, difficult, and uncooperative in investigating this account and closing it under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act. As far as I'm concerned, they are just as culpable as the criminal who originally stole my identity. SoFi will not return your calls and they will lie about never receiving a fraud affidavit that I can literally track via tracking number with USPS to confirm that they did in fact receive the fraud affidavits. Do not willingly do business with these people. SoFi is a criminal organization. They will make your life miserable for the fun of it. They are not honest people.
SoFi checks all the boxes! I moved me and my husbands finances over to SoFi and we have no complaints! We both receive direct deposit on so there is no need for cash in our life. SoFi is an online only bank. We have our Money Checking & several Vaults My Crypto & Stock Investments I use several I have a credit card and I'm working on having them refinance my student loans. They have everything right there. Included a service called Relay which acts like credit monitoring system and budgeting app.
I applied for a personal loan to pay off one of my high interest credit cards. After applying and them pulling my credit score they told me they do not work with Discover card which is why it would not allow me to put in the credit card information. I do not know why they do not tell you these things before they run your credit. I called them and they had no reason to give me. She said she did not know why they do not work with Discover. What a waste of my time. I can get a deposit directly into my bank account but I am almost afraid to provide them with my information and of course the interest rate would go up slightly for doing it this way. I do not know if I would even be approved or not. Never had an experience like this. I found them through Credit Karma. Guess they do not know much about this company either. They must of read my review as I was denied shortly after posting this review. What a joke this company is.
I want to audition for the undercover superstar of Cottonwood Heights Utah and I know what I am doing for my talent and I have a great singing voice
So I am in the process of Wrapping up my Refi of my Investment property through SOFI. Here is what I think so far: I have a good credit score and no debit, so that is important to note here. The process with SoFI was very simple and easy and so far I am pleased with SOFI. Approval as quick and simple. However I am still up in the air about the company they use for a lot of their services, ServiceLink as follows: Appraisal: Perfect they did a fantastic job and was right on par to what I stated the value was, actually they were 15k higher! Title: I will finish this review later, while they were good at following up with me as far ensuring the title was correct, they did mess up the city on the Taxes to be paid---Waiting to get clarity on this and will update this point as I get more info Settling/Closing: Points when up by $300 at closing, I assigned anyways because well I was happy with the rest, however I am still waiting to hear back from Loan Agent Troy on why I ended up paying $300 more in points. Signing Agent: During the process was good, didn't care for doing things outside but that is what she said would be done due to COVID, however I am not to crazy with people who provide services saying its their way or no way....You have to work with the customer you know.. Anyways it went smooth however I can't really rate this portion yet as I have yet to get confirmation that my loan Documents were received, we signed 03/25/2021 and she should of faxed them in that night so SOFI should have them by now 03/26/2021. I will review further when I get an update Disbursement of funds: Have yet to provide an experience on this, so far at least following up on when my funds will be disbursed, no answers yet.. but this was done on 03/26/2021. The person handling my loan should know this right away though and it should take no more then 5 minutes figure it out and provide answer. I will review further when I get an update All and all I am ok with the way things are being handled so far, but its still to early for me to give a 100% review and my star rating my change higher or lower depending on how the remaining items go. More to come UPDATED to 4 Stars: Loan funded in less then three days after closing and servicer has put all my loan details and escrow up on their web site. Very HAPPY!
I re-financed my loan with SOFI because I used to value the company's high level of customer service. The new Title Company sent a check to pay off the property tax balance on my account per the new mortgage contract drafted by SOFI. That check was received by the taxing authority on 11/17/20. SOFI claims that they also sent a check on 11/10/20 to pay property taxes for 2020 why I have no idea, however, no one at SOFI now seems to know what happened to this check. The SLC taxing authority did not receive it per their recon of the parcel. This disbursement from SOFI zeroed out my escrow balance. Update - I was just contacted by SOFI's tax department and they now tell me it will be 15 business days i.e. - January 2021 before they can even tell me whether I will receive a refund. Which makes almost 3 months they have kept $2,700 of my money. I wish they were more concerned with their customers than with naming football stadiums after the company.
I can only guess this this company is either not interested in making low risk, low interest loans bait and switch with constant mailers or they are completely incompetent when it comes to reading & interpreting pay stubs. If you divert significant funds to ESPP, and max out 401k & post-tax 401ks perhaps you’re a super-saver, then PLEASE DO NOT waste your time with this company. I suspect they ask for pre-tax gross income, and evaluate your application based on your paycheck but don't seem to understand that the large amount of money you are saving is discretionary. Therefore they claim they "cannot verify income," and deny your application even though you fall in their highest income bracket, and highest credit bracket. Then, if you ask for the "hard" credit pull to be suppressed, they will refuse to do it... even though there is no rhyme or reason to their denial. I wouldn’t describe their practices as "shady," because I don't understand their angle baiting with low interest mailers, but never approving said loans?... so my best guess is pure incompetence. Save your credit, and don’t waste your time. UPDATE, 2 Days Later: I applied with Earnest, received approval for a 4.02% fixed 10-yr loan much lower than SoFi, and signed the paperwork all in the same day. Earnest knows how to review your COMPLETE financial picture. Imagine that ?
