Our farm is focused on raising healthy grass-fed beef. Our cows are sourced from a certified-organic closed herd, and are completely antibiotic and hormone-free. They are pasture-raised on our native, pesticide-free grasses for delivery to your family.
At Solstice Family Farms we're concerned about what we eat and how that impacts our health. In June of 2012 we bought a small farm in the agricultural community of Ellensburg, Washington. Having become enamored of the spectacular steaks we had visiting our winery in Argentina, we decided to move forward raising our own grass-fed beef. We partnered with an area rancher to provide us with certified-organic angus/limousin cross cows and a knowledgeable ranch manager to care for the animals given we live in Los Angeles. The cows move onto our farm in the early Spring. They'll spend the Spring and Summer on our property eating their fill of wild grasses and enjoying fresh snowmelt from Washington's Cascase Mountains. In late September the cows are humanely harvested on the property and delivered to a local butcher who will cut and wrap the meat for delivery to Southern California and points beyond.
We feel its important to be aware of what you are feeding your family and take responsibility for the animals that give their lives to provide our meals. Our cows can be traced back multiple generations on the same farm and enjoy a wonderful life at our property with dazzling sunshine, abundant grasses, sparkling water and plenty of room to quietly enjoy it all. Our cows aren't ever going to be treated with growth hormones, anti-biotics or other artificial inputs and the grass they eat will never be treated with pesticides. Our philosophy is that what's best for the land and animals is what is best for us too.
Grass-fed is clearly that way to go if you are going to eat beef. Its better for you and its better for the animals.
