The Somerville Courthouse is a historic building in Somerville, Alabama. The oldest extant courthouse in Alabama, it was built in 1837 as the second courthouse for Morgan County. It served until 1891, when the county seat was moved to the larger Decatur. The building was later used as a school and town hall. The courthouse is two stories and constructed of brick, with large, eight-over-eight sash windows on each façade and the sides. This review is just for the guard at the door a few minutes ago. Rude, no respect, obviously has something against minorities, etc. A blemish to the court’s image.
The probation is deplorable and some Judges outright trust cop's lies in lieu of only testimony. Probation would pretend not to receive letters and out of spite will find reasons to hold you for a weekend or longer. These include not receiving emails, driving down on a date without transportation guaranteed, and asking for things in court that I had with me knowing they would ask to hold. Very terrible probation. A contract is a contract and this was a slap in the face in addition to.
Went inside and spoke to a lady in English and she called a guy saying I was speaking his language Spanish. I was speaking English perfectly.. REALLY RACIST old women.
Outdated & lack of information, neither friendly. No packages in, No hand writing allowed, No phone allowed. BUT NO SIGN AT ALL. The law enforcement just check rudely and randomly. Very bad experience. Can it be more repectiful?
Door for jurors was locked, waited around for 10 minutes before a security guard came up and told us court is always closed on "holiday weeks" and that we should go home. Turns out you can't call the hotline the day before, you need to call it day of, since the guy who records the messages doesn't always do it on time. Pretty unimpressed. Minor plus, there's no bike racks, but the security guard said it'd be fine to lock the bikes up to railings so long as they're not blocking sidewalks. Of course, there's no good way to bike to Assembly Square at the moment...
Came here today for a harassment order against my neighbor who was destroying property and trespassing, judge denied order because “Its annoying, its not harassment” Same judge refused restraining order on my mother who was nearly killed by her ex husband, this court system should be better but it never will
As an attorney, I have found the court to be fair, and all the people with whom I have interacted strive to be reasonable. The clerks are knowledgeable, prompt and courteous. You may not get what you would like, but rest assured you will get what the law allows. If you need help, ask for it and you will receive a full measure of what you are entitled to.I have dealt with most of the people there, and the court as a whole is very professional. The judges are excellent.I have lost cases there, but the judges listen very carefully to both sides.I am proud to serve the law in that court.
It’s a normal court house. When to small claims. Was allowed to bring in a cell phone
Somerville Courthouse. u will not receive any justice even if you have the proof in your hand make sure you have a good lawyer and not one that is court appointed to you.. I have to click a star to post but they get negative stars!!! I was wrongfully ARRESTED over a warrant that was dismissed in Chelsea and it happened again. I faxed over paperwork to Clerk at Somerville District to give to judge and hilariously "surprising"... he never read it and wanted to "dismiss" with a FEE!!!!!!!!! Then after finally getting the DA to speak to me she acknowledged the CLERICAL ERROR but guess what... no one is reimbursing me for the $170 of getting towed, $40 for bail and 2 days of work as of today. Plus the DA says "they were doing me a favor!!!" and that they "do not owe me an apology!" The outrage and boldness of the system that WE THE PEOPLE PAY FOR out of out pockets #Taxes SMH please reach out to me bc I am getting a lawyer to look into these matters. We have to be a voice and stand up to the injustice system!
