I am a graduate from Le Cordon Bleu in Minneapolis. I graduated from the Patisserie and Baking program with an associates degree and High Honors. In November, I completed a 4 month internship at the Boardwalk Bakery in Walt Disney World as a part of my schooling. I have a passion for baking and decorating cakes. I opened up a bakery in Coon Rapids, Minnesota with my mother on May 2nd 2015. We specialize in gourmet cupcake flavors, custom cakes, macarons, and more.

Great atmosphere! Placed an order the week of our wedding and the cake and cupcakes were ready as scheduled! Price was reasonable. I provided them with a couple photos, they ran with it and blew us all away! We received so many complements on our dessert table. Something Sweet deserves all the praise!
My son wanted a Pokémon vs Ninja Turtles cake. I was emailing back and forth with Alisa about my son’s cake, and she was soooo kind and patient with me. She worked with me on the design and pricing until we reached the perfect cake for him. They ended up making the cake and we just added the toppers! I got so many compliments on this cake! Also, the actual flavor/taste of their cakes are so delicious that I drove 2 hours after the last snowstorm to pick it up! So worth it for my son and the goodness!
Cakes, macarons, and cupcakes are always on point. Went again for the 8th year anniversary for their $2 cupcakes and really enjoy the strawberry marshmallow cupcake. The strawberry made the cupcake so soft! Didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. Red velvet cupcakes are always delicious! I also like how the cupcakes are not overly sweet. Definitely my go to place for when I’m craving cupcakes and macarons!
Giving it a 1 because the staff is always nice. However, I'm not sure why this place is so popular. Yes the cupcakes are filled & some cool flavor combos & the cakes always have cool decorations. But the several times I've tried this place, I was disappointed. The frosting has always been gritty & the cake itself is always dry. There's been times where I've tried 1 or 2 bites & end up spitting it out. And at the prices charged its just not worth it.
We catered assorted desserts for our grand opening event and wanted to shop local and support small business. Maddie Lu's absolutely delivered! Communication was great and the service was excellent. The assorted brownies, macaroons, and mini cupcakes were beautifully done and an absolute hit to help us celebrate the opening of our Aster community. Highly recommend!!
Giving it a 2 star because the girl that helped us with the cupcakes was great. I really wanted to try this pumpkin spice cupcake I picked up on Wednesday somewhere around noon and it’s Friday morning. I took a bite, and see a black mark on the liner and took a closer look and it’s mold, so being pregnant I immediately spit that out. I just got off the phone with one of the worker didn’t get a name and she didn’t seem concerned about it. I ask if cupcakes were made daily and she said yes so I told her about the mold and all she said was “Ok”, then a awkward silence so I reply back “OK?” that’s when she offer me a 6pk cupcake, stating that it might have been chunks of brown sugar; I told her it’s definitely mold. I was pretty nice and clam about it too, but it was a totally weird conversation with no compassion, I don’t even know if I want to eat the other 3 cupcakes but with that kind of service I’ll definitely not be going in to get my 6 cupcake that was offered. I go here once in awhile to get cupcakes with my daughter; after seeing how the customer service was, not anymore.
Very flexible and easy to work with. They kept our file very organized and our file was easy to pull out when needed. I like that you got to taste all the cupcakes beforehand. I do wish that they were slightly more moist. Our cake and cupcakes were great. However, I wish our cake had been decorated a bit more like a birch bark tree, though. I was a little disappointed. All of our guests raved about the cupcakes entire evening. We ordered one small cake which fed eight people the wedding party and 10 dozen cupcakes along with 2 dozen chocolate covered strawberries. The strawberries were good, but I didn’t like the waxy feeling of the chocolate in my mouth. I recommend the Butterfinger flavor. For the price, they were reasonably good, but not of the most excellent quality.
Went above and beyond on a short notice for a cupcake order. As a first time customer they impressed me with both customer service and taste! Thanks to all the staff!! Highly recommend for your bakery needs & wants.
They made us a 3 tier cake for my sweet 16 and it was amazing! The colors were just like I asked and same with the design. I read some reviews saying they weren't too helpful in the process so I was a little skeptical at first but they did a well job and kept me in the loop during the process. Highly recommend them for custom cakes.
Amazing!!! Smash Cake was exactly as ordered! And it was the best cake ever! My dtr was not to into making a mess with it so everyone else took a few bites. And everyone raved about it being the best cake they ever had!! Now I need an excuse to order more!! Zero issues from ordering, confirming the order and picking up. Flawless. And did I mention it tasted and looked amazing?? Well it did!!
