Excellent place to take your dog and have a nice hike with some beautiful views. Went around on the cougar trail and up the woodland star trail and back down around the lake. Very nice trails and decent grades to give a workout. Not that crowded which was a plus and did not have a single mountain bike on the trails we were on! Lots of people had dogs with them so be careful if you happen to have a dog that might be aggressive since some of the trails are very narrow. There was hardly any poop stations on the trails so bring extra bags if you have a dog with you. Right now there were flowers blooming all over, which made for some beautiful scenery.
Great place to hike, about 3.5 miles to go around and the end have a great lake views. Nice in all seasons. Love the place
Awesome park that’s dog friendly. No shade, ll be prepared with sunscreen and hat. Best to be covered as the trail was narrow at parts, ticks possible. Dog friendly but they have to be leash. I used to trail using all trails .. it’s was less than 400 elevation and 2.8 mile which goes through the lake. It was beautiful and there were all types of birds.
This park is the best. Beautiful hiking trails or a nice paved easier walk. Both have amazing views and its a great place. Theres picnic benches and even a pretty big dog park. The reservoir isy favorite place to walk. Walking around the water watching the ducks is very relaxing.
Beautiful park, very easy paved walking path with trails for the more adventurous. Beautiful in the spring when green and blooming. Awesome dog park, well maintained with picnic areas water fountains for dogs and humans. One of our favorite parks to visit. Restrooms: Two portable bathrooms but we'll be maintained, and stocked. Dog-friendliness: Great dog run with plenty of water, shade, poop removal tools etc it's very well-maintained and large.
Beautiful place. Very happy I went, mid morning on a weekday, not too crowded, parking on the side of the road was a nightmare and my friend who's an oncology nurse got a ticket for parking in a fire lane when she did not.. no red curb markings or signs to be seen anywhere and didn't block anything... all in all it was a beautiful place! Lots of wild flowers and the lake was very nice! You're not allowed to swim or do anything like that which Is kind of lame but that's california for you... i was also happy to see there was only a few dog poop bags on the trail... so many of the local hiking places are littered with dog poop bags these days....Would go again!
Great tail system but the map at the beginning seemingly is missing half of the area. The trails were not well maintained and were eroded and rutted. $7 seemed excessive just to park and hike poorly maintained trails. The oak woodland cover type was beautiful. There was a TON of poison oak- be sure to wear pants if you get it.
I come here for the dog park. Fully fenced with sally-port entrance to prevent dogs from escaping. Would give it 5 stars but it's hot with little shade. Great area for dogs to run free! The rest of the park is nice with a variety of trails.
The Valley of the Moon Trail was just the right amount of hike for me 70 yrs, my daughter & her 4 munchkins. Trail was paved & well kept. No permanent bathrooms though. The temporary ones were terrible. They were overflowing & gross. Restrooms: Terrible & probabliy temporary. Gross.
Has a lot of short hills that traverse the hills through groves of oak trees. Great views at the top overlooking valleys. One of few parks you can bring your dog with you. Hiked this park late September 2018 and it was extremely dry. Good family hiking.
