Description

The South Central Regional Library is located in the south central region of Manitoba – an hour south of Winnipeg. The Library has branches in Morden, Winkler, Altona, and Miami.

The mission of the South Central Regional Library is: “To provide access to resources to meet the educational, cultural, informational, and leisure-time needs of citizens of all ages and backgrounds. The library strives to foster a life long interest in reading.”

The South Central Regional Library was first established in 1965 as the Morden-Winkler Regional Library, as a result of referendums in both towns. Library branches were officially opened in the two locations on October 20, 1965.

In 1976 the Rural Municipality of Stanley joined the system as a third partner and the library’s name was changed to the South Central Regional Library. A library branch was opened in Altona when the town became a partner in 1988. The Town of Gretna became the fifth partner of the library region in 1992. The Rural Municipality of Rhineland and the town of Plum Coulee became partners in 2001 and 2002. The Rural Municipality of Thompson joined in 2009.

Any type of discrimination, unintentional or not, is bad. It cost nothing to show kindnesses and compassion to the less fortunate person or victimized. Consistency as suggested when rules were created and imposed, would be great too, if rules must be enFORCED upon disabled or able bodied individuals.
Homeless with a disability who doesn't need to be walking around extra times in the elements. The accomodations I needed is to be able to keep going to this Library to do remote workforce training and seek out remote income opportunities. It's the easiest while I'm in this area that is central to most of what is necessary to me at this time. They are discriminating after months of allowing myself and others to utilize this public resource. I should not have to travel and risk extra stress induced health issues to accomplish the things necessary to my forward progress. Mainly 1 or 2? staff members or community members that are more concerned about appearances with my wagon of stuff that is essentially my assistive device to get me through each day. They should be more concerned about supporting the ones that are trying in the ways that work better for them, and not just moving us all out of sight IMO.
Free 2 hour parking if you ask for a parking pass at the front desk. Pass must be returned at the end of the day. I bring my kids here afterschool, they oftentimes enjoy the afternoon activities in the children's room such as the Furry Tales story times and DIY craft programs! The Children's librarian, Jennifer is friendly and has excellent recommendations for reluctant readers. They also have a wonderful collection of graphic novels and videogames! Overall, the facility is clean and nice place to hang out with the family.
I have been coming to S Miami library for years. All of the staff are knowledgeable and always proactive w assistance. Very comfortable, neat and clean.
after so many years at this library. I went because it was on my way and I needed to work about an hour on my computer. Is not as modern as other libraries but it has everything you need like Internet, all the same library system or you order books online or you can just sit there and read your book. They also have the computer station where you can work on their computer and even print. You can print up to 25 pages per day for free if you need to print more you just pay extra. The restroom and everything was clean and the people working here were all nice! I
Easy access, good selection of books it is a smaller facility. Excellent staff. Ample parking.
Awesome staff! Thank you for being kind and helpful
I went there on September 2, 2020. Great location. To get there, take the Metrorail train to the South Miami Station. You can also take the 37, 57, or the 72 bus to the South Miami Metrorail station.
Not being a fan of large crowds or large libraries South Miami is my go to branch. It’s a great place to study. Staff is efficient and courteous. Also, it’s one of the few branches I’ve seen with a separate foreign film collection. This is an extra special treat for film buffs :
It is a good library overall. Near the metro station. Stays open on Saturdays unlike other libraries. But it has one small problem. The people who were here, when I was there, were not so silent like they are supposed to be. Most of the time they were quiet but there were bouts of noises. Oh and they don’t whisper while talking. And since it’s a public library you don’t need to be a member to study here.
