The South Cobb Lions has been serving the South Cobb County communities since 1952. Our MOTTO: "WE SERVE".
Promoting South Cobb Lions. Locally, we aid in eye examinations and glasses for the needy through partnerships with local Optometrists and The Georgia Lions Lighthouse. We also support the Peace Poster Contest by Lions International in area Middle Schools. We support the State by giving to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation. Our biggest fundraiser is our Annual WHITE CANE DAY where all funds collected go directly to services. We also support the Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind in Waycross, GA. We also support LEARNING ALLY (recording for the blind in Athens).
International: Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) - Melving Jones Fellowships, Melvin Jones the founder of the Lions Clubs.
Others: Leader Dog, Rochester, Michigan and Southern Guide Dogs, Florida which trains dogs for use by the vision impaired persons.
SOUTH COBB LIONS CLUB FUNDS THE SERVICES TO THE SOUTH COBB COMMUNITY AS FOLLOWS: Annual October BBQ at the MABLE HOUSE in conjunction with the STORY TELLING. Annual PECAN SALES in November & December. Annual WHITE CANE DRIVE - which we collect donations through bucket brigades at local businesses and letter donation request to friends - membership of the South Cobb Lions.
To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation.
MEMBERSHIP IN LIONS CLUB is by INVITATION: More women and men are needed, who are willing to give of themselves and their resources for the great humanitarian causes that exist in our world today. As a LION, you not only help people in need but have the opportunities to develop personal friendships and gain valuable leadership skills. We meet every 1st and 3rd Monday at 6:30 PM at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, 561 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Mableton, GA. Our meals are catered by Mother's Finest. Feel free to join us and see what we are all about.
