South Dakota Timed Event Championship
We are proud to announce the first annual South Dakota Timed Event Championship to be held during the South Dakota State Fair, September 3rd and 4th in Huron, SD. The State Fair is a great venue to showcase our local youth in South Dakota’s official sport, rodeo. The State Fair is one of the largest in the Northern Plains with last year’s attendance exceeding 177,000 people. The two-day Timed Event Championship will held in prime location, free to fair attendees, on the largest weekend of the fair.
The South Dakota Timed Event Championship is not just your average rodeo. Approximately 100 youth will vie for the coveted title. The venue will attract families, friends, and devout rodeo fans from the region. We will be awarding thousands of dollars worth of prizes including a champion trophy Featherlite Trailer, scholarships, trophy saddles, trophy jackets by Roper, and Cowgirl Tuff jeans, just to name a few.
Contestants will choose 3 of 6 timed events to compete in. These events include: Calf Roping, Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Team Roping, and Goat Tying. Boys and girls will compete against each other to truly determine South Dakota's Timed Event Champion. Overall Timed Event Champion, Reserve Timed Event Champion, and Event Champions will be determined based upon a point system. See official rules for more details.
