We are the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Team from South East High School. Though this is our first year, our team has enthusiastically set out to promote civic and academic excellence through hands-on activities, healthy competition, and real life application. With the spirit of FIRST in mind, our mission is to inspire and prepare young people, through the use of robotics, to be 21st century leaders.
So what is the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) ?
“Dubbed a varsity Sport for the Mind,™ FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real world” engineering as a student can get.”
