Welcome to the South Hills Mall, which happens to be closed now. If you have memories of the mall, feel free to post pictures/videos/etc.
The South Hills Mall was a mall which is now converted into The Shoppes at South Hills. The South Hills Mall opened in 1978 and was filled with a lot of stores such as Sears, Kmart, plus 90-100 stores since the opening. The 1980's also included a department store called Hess's which lasted quite a while and also brought in the food court. In 1987, things started to turn off. The Galleria opened and the South Hills Mall was on a rapid decline. Hess's left in 1990's and Burlington went in that space. Sears then pulled out in 1991, and then it was divided into three spaces, Phramhouse, Media Play, and Price Chopper. The food court then moved out into the hallways and Service Merchandise when in that space in 1995. Other stores came in around that time period, such as Old Navy, Bob's Stores, Office Max, Discovery Zone, and many more. In the early 2000's, Pharmhouse pulled out and then At Home moved in and remained in that space for a couple of years. Especially in the 2000's, lots of stores were moving out and moving to other places such as the Galleria or plazas. By 2008, all the stores were closed, leaving Burlington, Kmart, Cimes 8 , Shop Rite (which then Price Chopper moved out in 2006), and Chuck E. Cheeses'. The construction of demolishing the mall began during the summer of that year and ended around late 2009 or early 2010. Stores that remain there today are Kmart, Burlington, Hobby Lobby, Cismes 8, Shop Rite, Bob's Furniture, Ashley Furniture, and so many more. If you happen to have any pictures/videos/memories of the mall, please share it with all of us! The South Hills Mall is a place to always remember!
