The Food Closet is a grocery program located at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Room 9.
Open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 to 2
The Food Closet relies on volunteers! We are completely staffed by volunteers — they are the heart and soul of our organization. Our clients are primarily referred to us through The Opportunity Center/InnVision. Many of our volunteers come from the church groups who helped form the Food Closet in the early years. However, over the years this has become a community effort. We have a board that includes people from the below listed churches working alongside others from our local community.
St. Thomas Aquinas Parish
Covenant Presbyterian Church
Grace Lutheran Church
St. Andrews Methodist Church
Wesley Methodist Church
Palo Alto First Christian Church
The Jewish Community Center
Unitarian Universalist Church
Our director is Kate Church. She has been with the Food Closet for more than 20 years.
This program is designed to help needy families with children or disabilities by assisting them in weekly food needs. It serves families who live in Palo Alto whose income is less than 150% of the federal poverty level. Families who come to the Food Closet may need help for a short or a long time.
