In January of 2012 I ordered a custom teak cabinet from Donna, the owner of South Seas Trading. Delivery was estimated at three months. And so our construction crew built out the drywall enclosure to house the cabinet. In March, the unit had not arrived. So I started communicating with Donna. Between March and August, 2013, she reassured me over and over that it was arriving anytime. It never did. In August, we cancelled the order since it seemed likely this would go on forever. We then had to redo the enclosure we built at great expense. Getting a refund was no fun either. It took about two weeks. I'm very sorry I did business with this company.
Avoid this store! We purchased a teak dining set less than 4 years ago and our chair broke. It was under a covered patio for all but 1 year. They will not fix or replace it. We were told the company discontinued that design and now makes that particular chair differently. I'm guessing because there is a flaw in the design and they break?! When we were shopping for our set they kept saying how the quality was the best grade A teak and that our investment in their teak was well worth it. I have a cheap Home Depot set that has lasted twice as long. I guess now we wait for the other 5 chairs to break....
I recently purchased an amazing teak daybed from south sea's. All hand carved from Indonesia. I oredered the item from south sea's via Indonesia. I was told the daybed would take 3 months, it came a month early and I wasn't disappointed. Very friendly owners and store manager Wendy was very helpful. I was so happy with daybed I returned and bought some outdoor patio furniture. Which I am very happy with. Very nice local store with beautiful pieces of furniture. Highly recommend. Wish I could take all home. Especially the slab tables. Amazing!
*** Do NOT BUY anything from this company! *** Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had dealing with any company in my entire life. I would rate them a '0' if this review site would let me. I ordered custom teak product from them >8 months ago with a 6 month quote on lead-time. They do not answer their telephone, they do not reply to e-mails. They are completely unresponsive. They are likely out of business and I am working with the credit card company to refund my deposit. If they aren't already out of business, they should be. Buyer beware! Do not deal with these people!
So far not happy at all with experience, bought a 10 ft table at the Miami Home show they are holding the table for us. Since then, we purchased two more items from them root soft table and cocktail table and now, the store is empty, they won't return phone calls, or emails. Over $3500 paid to them and no product in hand. Gary if you are reading this you seem to be a local person, along with your niece not someone who I thought would swindle other people. You have my contact information, I m sure you can figure out who I am. Kindly return a call or email.
My experience at South Seas trading company was great! I am a new home owner who just purchased a synthetic Sofa set for my back patio. Everything went smoothly, the set was delivered on time and put together for me. I would recommend this company if you're looking for great customer service.
I had a wonderful experience purchasing furniture at South Seas Trading Company. This Company is extremely reliable when it comes to orders, delivers, and helpful employees. I have purchased a couple outdoor chairs and tables that have lasted for a couple years now, still in great condition. Highly recommended!
Don't ever buy from this location, no matter what company it is now, it's used to be "south sea teak" own by Gary, he filed bankruptcy last year, now another company inherited the business, however Gary is still showing up in the store and working, he played tricks to get away debt, he still owed me furnitures worth $1,200. Even we tried to sue him through small amount claim, we are not able to get a penny back, he is being chased by another big law suit, all his asset being freezed. Althought you buy anything that they have in the store now, i think the money still gets into him eventually, think about how many customers being cheated by Gary.
TERRIBLE! DO NOT BUY! I would like to give a zero for this review however it is not possible. When ordering something from this store they are very quick to charge your credit card but when it comes to delivery.... It is always a hassle. You litteraly have to contact them all the time. In Nov 2015 they also charged my credit card for an item that they promised to deliver together with some bar stools that i purchased in March 2016. My credit card was charged but as usual they never delivered. At the moment their phone is disconnected, they don't answer their emails and to make it worse the store is empty. So they have either closed down or moved without notification. THIS COMPANY HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.
I handle the credit card Processing for South Seas Trading, and they decided to go out of business and not deliver services, now my company is left in the dust.... so far we have OVER $40,000 in chargebacks, and all I got was an email from a bankruptcy lawyer. It seems they just wanted to charge customers and not deliver product and they used bankruptcy as an excuses to do so. Gary if you are reading this shame on you, i'm 31 years old and you've put me behind over $40,000 and counting with my company.... I trusted you and this is what you did to me, and countless other people... I understand some of you are losing out on $2000 -$4000 tickets, I'm losing out on all of these items combined. I trusted you Wendy, Donna and Gary!... we spoke about Bali and you seemed so nice, I guess you let your lower power in yourself hinder who you are. I won't hold a grudge though, what comes around goes around.
