Southern Shores is a town in Dare County, North Carolina, United States. The racial makeup of the town was 98.23% White, 0.09% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.54% of the population.There were 946 households out of which 21.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.6% were married couples living together, 3.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.3% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
