The following is the complete story, limited by Google’s character limit. At the beginning of March, I called Southern and made an order, totaling $186.43. The full amount was charged to my card on 3/30/2019. On 4/1, the package was delivered by UPS and stolen 3 minutes later I have a doorbell camera. After a few phone calls, Southern said that if UPS reimbursed them then they would be able to fulfill my order once again. My response was “Does this mean that if you don’t get reimbursed then I will just be out of luck?” Their response was “Well, do you just want us to be out of luck?” I assume Southern was denied any reimbursement by UPS. Since April 3rd, I have called Southern multiple times to try to get a final resolution, each time I am told: “they will call me back.” When they finally would call back, they never had a resolution to the matter, only further delays. I told them that I have the option of doing a charge-back on my credit card for not receiving products ordered and writing a google review that merely stated the facts of our dealings with one another. They sounded surprised that I would write a review, to which I made clear that I would only be describing exactly what happened and if they feel embarrassed by the facts, they should re-evaluate their customer service policies. They ended that conversation with, “Let me talk to the boss and see what they want to do. I’ll call you back.” On 4/19, I called and spoke to Southern again. They told me: “We just need to do another order then.” I interpreted that as I need to do another full-priced order. I ended the call telling them that I absolutely do not want to do another order with them and that I now want a refund as I no longer wish to do any business with Southern Uniforms. I would consider my tone with them, at worst, to be considered "frustrated". On 4/29, I received a call from an individual in my organization that holds a higher rank than I do. He tells me that several weeks ago Southern Uniforms emailed him about the situation and asked for guidance on the situation from him. They said I was never mean or impolite, but that I was “difficult.” He was told, by Southern Uniforms, that they offered on our last phone call to duplicate my order and that they would be eating the costs associated. Now, looking back on the previous discussion I had with them. I could see this as being a total miscommunication by both sides. If they inferred this to me, I certainly did not pick up on it. It was also not implicitly discussed – I know that for a fact. My superior’s opinion on this matter, which he made clear was not in an official capacity, was that I should eat the cost. At best, I consider this to be completely unprofessional on behalf of Southern. At worst, this is vindictive and malicious. Up to this point, I had decided not to do a charge-back on my credit card and that I had just learned a hard lesson. I had also decided not to do a Google Review. Upon receiving that phone call, I am still unwilling to do a charge-back, however, I do feel customers should understand 2 things about Southern's policies: 1. Southern feels they have completed their obligation to the consumer upon the shipment of your goods. 2. Southern also feels that it could be prudent for them to contact someone else in your organization/business about any such matter pertaining to any business done with them. To end this story, on 4/29 I called Southern to let them know they can close my case. I no longer want or will accept a refund, nor do I want any products from them under any circumstances. In conclusion, my main complaint is the failure of Southern Uniforms to take the side of their customer instead of looking out for their own interests. I wish them no harm and I can only hope their business will improve in the future if they are capable of taking this unfortunate experience and improving their customer interactions and policies to better suit a competitive market.
